Is $440 too much for 2 used 480's? - Page 4

Used. 200 ea at the most.

You can never be sure how they were overclocked or overvolted if the seller isn't upfront about it, regardless, used is used and I can't see retail being over 240$ on a 480. I have no idea how some people sell used components at retail... they must find some suckers.
They've got to be willing to take a healthy hit on the retail price if the GPU has been used, that's my theory even when selling and when I find a good deal I tip. EOS

I really want to get these two 480's! biggrin.gif

Well, if it helps. I run 2 heavily overclocked 470's on a 850w and it doesn't even get to the point where the fan spins lol.

Also, when you get them, ENJOY THEM!! Then, once you decide you, and the people you live with get tired of hearing the jet engines, you'll definitely want to watercool them and push them, and push them devil.gifdevil.gif

I don't really know much about watercooling a gpu...I guess it works the same as a cpu? You need to get a plate to afix to the card?

Yeah. Just make sure you get full cover blocks.

You pretty much just mount them to your GPU like you do the CPU just no backplate and such.

However, I suggest buying new thermal pads as well. They're cheap, and sticky. tongue.gif

What Dustin said. I can overvolt my 470's to 1.075/1.025 from 1.037/0.950 and pull about 680w absolute peak from the wall, minus 20% from the PSU's 80% efficiency and the load is about 570w. You can imagine that 2 480's at stock are going to be powered comfortably on anything above 700w, preferably one 12v rail. 800+ is your going to overclock.

I don't think that's a good deal at all, especially for EVGA cards since you won't have any warranty. Even for Asus or MSI, that's a kind of high price. Have you considered Crossfiring two 6950? I bought mine Open Box for $153 and that was for a 2gb version. If you're definitely stuck on buying GTX480, Zotac was selling them for $200 and the link is in the Online Deals section.

Well, I know my AX850 can peak at about 1085w. (Saw it in a PSU review, don't remember which one, but I'll try to find it before I get flamed..)

But be sure to check out this (click me) thread on OCN. It's a thread filled with Overclock.net's most recommended power supplies and almost all them have reviews tagged in with them. Most from Johnny, and Anand.
