Can't connect to the internet after gaming?

My younger brother is having issues with his internet after he quits a game. He says he is unsure when it started. I noticed that when he control-alt-deletes he does not get the processes tab or any tab really. He doesn't even get a file menu.

Any ideas? I have a feeling this is the reason why he can't sign into Windows Live; we can't play Dead Rising 2 together.

When ctrl-alt-del doesn't work that could be a sign of malware on the system. Does windows update work? Are there any other symptoms?

when you brother tries to sign in to live, does it say his password is wrong? or it just can't connect to the service?

That's what I'm thinking too.

No; it just hangs on trying to download a new profile.

Well, it might be time for a fresh install of windows if you've already tried all the standard antivirus scans and run Malware Bytes with no success. It's not pretty but it's a good chance to talk to your brother about using protection (and common sense) online biggrin.gif

I think I had the same problem a while ago, I solved it by downloading the GFWL client again. maybe it'll work for you
