Overclock Phenom 955 BE quick question

Thread Starter
So I want to OC it without and voltage changes so I figured I would to a multiplier adjustment only.

So I know 17x multiplier gets me to 3.4 without any other changes.

What will 18x multiplier get me to and will it be stable without any other changes?

I am really just aiming at multiplier changes only and nothing else.

I am currently on vacation and don't have access to post pictures of my current build, sorry if you will need more help.

most 9xx from 955 on up usually get 3.6-3.7 on stock voltage, 18x may get you around 3.6ghz redface.gif i know my 955 can do 3.9ghz on stock voltage before it ever needs a voltage tweak biggrin.gif

18 will get you to 3.6ghz, and you will probably want to specifically set the voltage.

I recommend about.... try 1.4v and run stability test, if pass lower and run again.

True, but i think he should still set the voltage manually if he has not done so (he didn't specify) because auto usually gives it way more then it needs or too little when you start changing the clocks.

Alright, so I should have no problem.

Alright, I heard a few users do x17 for 3.4 and don't need to mess with voltage.

Then a few guys get around 3.8 without voltage changes too so I figured x18 would be fine.

So just changing the multiplier to x18 with no voltage mods I won't have to change my RAM speeds?

On my 955 I have changed the multiplier only to reach 3.9 stable.

YMMV.

You don't really have to "mess" with the voltage just specifically set it and get it off auto, i have a 955 here at home on a m4a785m-evo board and it's not stable at 3.6ghz or over on auto, set it specific and boom it goes.

depends on the voltage, i've had mine on auto which kept it pretty stable it never once needed to bump it up at all.

shouldn't be a problem, just take it one multiplier at a time. if you tap out at 3.6ghz then you've hit your limit without voltage, what is your voltage anyways? if you do know if not use CPU-Z and let us know smile.gif
