My dual 460s, non-advmethods, both received an 8031 within a few minutes of each other Tuesday.
This casued an old problem to re-occur. PSU crashed shutting down the system while I was at work for a few hours.
This only happened before when they were OC'd and I was trying to run -advmethods.
They have been "folding stable", OC'd at 880/1760MHz, for weeks without -advmethods and at these clocks my PPD was somewhat better than stock using -advmethods, but definitely cooler and more reliable.
To run these new ones reliably (for now) I "had" to back off the OC to 750/1500MHz. (Stock is 720/1440)
This still gives me 2K PPD more per card than running my higher OC on the older WUs.
Confusing I know. I certainly am!
I like the new ones PPD wise but since I have to lower the OC so much, if I get the older ones now the PPD will not hold.
I may try leaving the OC lower and turn on -advmethods again to see if I can run stable with old -advmethods WUs as well as the new 803x ones.
One thing I certainly noticed is that when running the old WUs my GPU % numbers on both cards would fluctuate quite a bit if I was trying to use the PC at all.
Now with these new WUs the GPU % is rock steady 99%+ no matter what I am doing on the PC. This is just like what the -advmethods looked like before when I could run them.
