Water Cooling Liquid Discussion

Thread Starter
Hello Forum,

This Thread is primarily for people to report on their experiences with additives, liquids and coolants used in water cooling loops and to help me decide what to get for my rig (i7 2600K, XFX 7970, Alphacool VPP655, XSPC RX480, Swiftech Apogee HD, EK FC7970). Any feedback on silver kill coils, distilled water, additives (PT Nuke, Mayhems Biocide, Prolimatech... etc) and Coolants (Primochill ICE, Feser etc.) is highly welcome.

Thanks in advance and I hope to help anyone else stumbling across this thread,
Dave

I went for Tygon 3603 clear tubing and Feser green dye which looked fantastic for three months, not quite so good now the fluid has started to go opaque and the tubing has started to cloud in places. Plasticizer is the enemy!

Also dyed fluid is a PIA to drain and refill, I have to do it outside the house to ensure any spills don't stain my flooring etc.

I have recently drained the Feser and replaced with distilled water and a couple of drops of Pulse Modding BioClear PT (slight concern about Copper Sulphate corrosion) and will be monitoring over the next few months to see how the leeching goes.

Will definitely go coloured tubing and distilled + PT next time as it won't stain anything. I have some 3/8ID-1/2OD black norprene tubing (plasticizer free) which seems to be ok for my bend radius so will give that a try next.

I've recently just done a little users review (nothing fancy just temperature results & effect) on some cooling fluids, Namely Mayhem's Aurora fluid up against straight distilled & Mayhem's X1 with dye..
Not sure you'd want a review added to here so will see about putting it in it's own thread if your interested??..

Has anyone tried other fluids with success? things like mineral oil, alcohol, glycols, etc?

10-15% antifreeze(ethylenglycol) and destilled. No problems at all, except some minor discoloring when using certain types of blue antifreeze.
