its a small point to be soldering, i was pretty nervouse when i did it, if you have some old circuit boards or something with the same size stuff try practicing on that first make sure your good to go

Thanks mate i might just try that

Well i rigged up the 10k pot with some wires and did a quick test with it on the motherboard, as far as i can tell the motherboard will only detect up to 1.52v, this is'nt a problem as i can add 0.50v or more with the pot and then i know roughly how many volts are going through the CPU, eg: 1.45v + 0.50v = 1.55v

BUT!!

No matter how little i turn the pot all i get is 1.52v , am i turning it to much at a time?

Haha turns out i was'nt turning it enough

I have it set now that 1.39v (set in BIOS) shows up as 1.48v, good enough for me

Now i have to mount the thing

*twiddles thumbs and looks at floor*

Nice, finally plucked up the courage You should be able to get up to 1.8V, plus I found the voltage was more stable after the mod.

What il do is fine tune the pot while im in the BIOS, i forgot to mention earlyer that CpuZ detects the higher voltage (after 1.52v) so thats handy

I've not put the pot on permanently yet but what i was gonna do is pop a tiny amount of solder on the end of the wire and put it on to the solder point before it hardens then blow like crazy to cool it lmao.

yeah its kind of funny but asus in bios shows the vcore in red when above 1.8, what i did with mine when i had it was set it so that 1.2vcore in bios was actually 1.4vcore goind to the chip that way i could adjust vcore via the bios up to like 1.85 i think (i ran it at 1.7 usually, my opti like vcore)

you dont want to adjust the voltage while in windows via the pot it can make your system crash at least it did mine

another thing that i did that made the soldering easier was get your wire reaady by appling solder to it then taking that to your soldering point and touching it with the iron then the solder from the wire mated with your solder point on the mobo,

dont forget its a good idea to put some hot glue or something to protect your solder point after your done so that littel wiggling and stuff doesnt casue it to come loose ecspecially if your changing out components and stuff like that

g.l.

I just had a go at soldering a wire to my old 6800Ultra (bless her), but it would'nt stick(and i burnt the fingerprint off my thumb).

The solder stuck to the card but the wire pulled out with ease, i might see about getting some conductive paint and drawing a small line with a blob on the end with the wire attached, wait for it to dry and then stick a little hot glue or electrical tape over it.

Thanks MADMAX22 and muffin for the tips

Hey im planning on doing a Vmod to my SLI-Deluxe, so i can get it over 1.55, what are my options when doing this? I assume it's the same with a Delux? What if i just ground out that solder point and set my Vcore Lower in my BIOS.
