Well, after reading all 15 pages and looking at all the pictures and videos. Also, having played both Crysis 1 and BF3. Here are my thoughts.

When it comes to pure visuals, i think Crysis has a few extras over BF3. Beautiful foliage, great colors, vivid scenes, and great textures.

However, that being said, when it comes to in game, which is what matters to me, I give my point to BF3. Sure, there could be a bit more color.
There could be better textures/texture mods. The reason I give my point to BF3 is because of the overall effects while in game.
Explosions, smoke, debris, splashes from water, wounds, and of course what the vehicles do(dust trails). They just make the game seem much
more alive for me. I didn't get the same feeling from Crysis as I do with BF3. I feel much more immersed into my surroundings.

I was playing a 1500 ticket round on Operation Metro last night, and it was a total RPG/Frag fest. It was intense.

Simply put;

Crysis = Great screenshots
BF3= Great graphics

I respect this, but from you are saying, seems to be like the more 'complete experience...' and not graphics alone...
The programmers of Dice always talked about getting the details of every sound perfect... and have to admit, no other game right now gives a better experience of that 'realism' than Battlefield 3... from the rockets flying past me and having the sound fade when an explosion hits near me...

But comparing the smaller things like explosions, smoke, splashes and wounds, this can all be answered by a simple particles mod to Crysis...

If anything, from my original videos posted, I say that BF3 gives the better screenshots with all the pretty reflections while you have to play Crysis and see it in 1080p at least 60FPS to get the full details...

The video here is over the top, but you get the idea...

Why compare a game with mods to a stock/modless game?

Completely useless/unfair comparison.

I agree to this somewhat... but it was already mentioned...
5 year difference...

It's like me saying why compare a DX10 and DX11 together?

So not completely useless or unfair...

Yeah there is a five year difference but a lot of things being pointed out in Crysis's favor are mostly mods.

You can't compare a modded game to unmodded game and call it a fair comparison.

And I like how Metro 2033 is in the OP but no one seems to be talking about it much. It's turned into a Crysis vs Battlefield 3 thread.

I somewhat agreed to your point... but back to the screenshot vs graphics in motion... When I saw the screen below, it literally blew my mind and I could not wait to play this game... And when I finally did, to tell you the truth, I did not get that same effect...

DICE and EA cause a lot of buzz for BF3's graphics which in the end didn't live up to expectations I'll agree on that.

But also another thing to consider when comparing these games is that art styles/directions are completely different. Crysis is going for a bright tropical look while BF3 is more of a realistic/gritty look. And to keep Metro in on the the whole thing it had more a dark and desperate look/feel to it.

As Stock games i prefer Crysis 2, as a modded game i much prefer Crysis 1 over Crysis 2 and especially BF3. Dont get me wrong, BF3 is a beautiful game with incredible lighting and really comes alive with FXAA Injector, but no one will be talking about it in 5 years from now like they are with the original Crysis. Crysis modded out smokes every game period. Like i said in a earlier post, after firing Crysis 1 back up ( with mod's, i know not apples to apples ) it delivers the best image fidelity period. BF3 is incredible and was built with 64 player multi in mind, and i could be wrong but i remember hearing it went to console focus towards the end. All three of these games are incredible period. Metro 2033 is also a beautiful game but is very poorly optimized and doesn't deliver the immersion that the Crysis series and BF3 deliver, at least in my opinion.

Here is a few more shots of the original Crysis modded out that i just took thumb.gif

Funny how metro 2033 is at the bottom of the poll by far, yet despite some of the most consistent GPU usage I've seen on my 470s (both practically pegged at 99%) I get much worse performance than both crysis and bf3.
