Actually no we're not. The thread is about comparing three games. Crysis, Battlefield 3, and Metro 2033.

Bringing in mods, console command options, or other means of modifying the game (which by the way can't truly be done in two of the three games) makes the comparison unfair and shows where the bias is.

We're comparing the core games here. Not modified versions of the games.

The way I see it is, what is the best visuals you can get out of any game out right now? Imo, it is playing modded Crysis. I think we should include mods in the discussion, since people who want the best visual experience possible aren't going to typically go stock if there is some mod that enhances the graphics of a game overall. Though if you want to play a more stable game, then stock is obviously more viable, but the point of this thread is not to play a stable game, but an extremely visually appealing game. For those of you who are saying don't compare modded Crysis to stock BF3, why should I limit the possible visual performance of Crysis just to get a "scientifically fair comparison" between Crysis and BF3? The comparison is inherently unfair due to comparing a game released in 2007 to one in 2011. If BF3 ever gets any good visual mods, we should later include that as well, since it'll make the game more visually appealing. I don't want to limit possible visual performance of one game to get a "fair comparison" with another game. I want to play a game with the best visuals possible, modded or not.

Most of what I said is obviously opinion, so please don't accuse me of thinking most of it as fact or anything. wink.gif
Sorry if I made any grammar/ English mistakes. Just typed this up before going to sleep.

ahahaha you make me laugh. obvious troll here. BG3's Graphics are ok but no where near crysis when modded. There are mods that make Crysis look Photo realistic & believe me you need hardware to even attempt it and what is really funny is that a 5-7 year old game till this date SPANKS damn near any game on the market

Do people realize how childish they look in threads like this?
This is almost as bad as the AMD/Nvidia brand humping.

BF3 is like an apple product.
Crysis is like a PC.
You can do more with one than you can with the other.
I like PC's.

That's a fair point.
That is why I said - if we compare the games, as a whole, Crysis wins by far, due to customization and sandbox style gaming.
However, we're comparing Only Graphics here.
It's like if you're compating Apple's exterior design to PC's exterior design. Of course you can grab the paint and powertools and make the PC look as good a an Apple.. whatever they're making. But that's not how you got it in the first place. Not eveybody can mod a PC. Not everybody can mod Crysis. Apple wins there.
BF3 wins here smile.gif

I think what it comes down to is taste. All the games mentioned here are amazingly beautiful and great, im just curious what the future holds in terms of graphics when the new consoles are released and we can finally start seeing real DX 11 in most games. GTX 680 SLI here i come. thumb.gif

I still think Crysis 1 has it. Games are getting closer, BF3 is looking great!

But Crysis 1 still looks better. When I see Crysis 1, the graphics, lighting and scenery make me think im watching a pre rendered video rather than a game.

I mean, when Crysis came out, the 8800GTX was king. But even 3 of them bad boys could not run the game maxxed out @ 1080p. Everyone blamed it on bad coding but to be honest when you look back now and you see how good that game actually looks and what a benchmark it set (which has yet to be beaten), it makes you realize how powerful the CryEngine2 actually is.

There has not been a game out since that:

A. Looks better than Crysis 1.
B. Can't run with playable FPS on the best set up available at the time.

Thats saying something.

everyone who owns a console should get a uber gaming pc for free, so dev's wont be restricted by hardwasre and they can make another crysis1, but with the hardware of these days
post #220 of 341
Is it a case of people trying to dismiss Crysis mods because there's none for BF3?

I have a feeling that if there were mods for BF3 then people would be singing a different tune..
