Stormy weather vs. Calm tropical weather, again, not really a good comparison. Also, gameplay vs. scripted cutscene
Characters is a pre-release vs. final product
Last I would say Crysis wins, as it uses REAL clouds, rather than a skybox.
Find ACTUAL gameplay scenes to compare, not a cutscene level vs. a gameplay level. Its not a remotely fair comparison.

No, you're wrong. It wouldn't be fair if the cutscenes were pre-rendered. There are such scenes in BF3 (the interrogation scenes). I posted nothing from them. The scripted scenes use the same engine and same settings as the game, and look the exact same way. No graphical improvements there whatsoever.

Also, the BF3 character shot I posted is MP too, I believe. As I already said in the long long prev post - make a better comparisson, I dare you smile.gif

EDIT: Also in the last 2 pics you have SP Crysis vs MP BF3.
The comparisson is not biased.

i love Crysis but if you want to but it against BF3 i would have to say BF3 looks more realistic but Crysis has better graphics. BF3 has that kind of impression where u look at a picture for 1 second and you like it. Crysis you have to look at it well and then say it looks better then BF3. There are just to many things BF3 does better. Crysis may look better in close ups but in actually long range BF3 is much much better.

I can't tell how good BF3 looks because I'm busy being blinded by Tactical Lights and the Sun.

I can't tell how good Crysis looks because EA DRM won't let me play my own game.
My overall impression of playing the two was that BF3 has better graphics in general, but then if you start looking closely at anything it's not as good as Crysis', so actually it's only impression you get from BF3 that makes you think it's better.

Examine anything closer like textures, model detail, water, smoke/explosions/particle effects, Crysis is better still.

BF3 has better lighting and (crucially) better art direction (in general) than Crysis, so you get the impression it is the better looking game (I think it is!). But redress issues of art direction by modding Crysis (TOD mods especially), and it looks better overall than BF3 I think. But stock vs stock? it's as I said above.

i've played all of them on their maximum settings and crysis 2 is by far the king.

Better lighting, Better reflections, Better textures, better character models, Better water, better particle effects, better use of POM textures leading to richer/ more detailed environments.

Play crysis 2 with the DX11 7 Texture patch and you will walk away a believer.

The lighting in BF3 is horrible, i think it may even be static. Just before your encounter the sniper in the single player, you have to go up a flight of stairs. Its is very sunny out side and there are windows in the flight of stairs but NO lighting seeps in, it is pitch black! They even have some lights in there and they don't light it up. I almost got lost in those stair ways because all i could see was black.

The comparisson is not biased.

If its a scripted scene, the lighting, camera and everything can be pre-set for it to look best. ALL of the Crysis pics you took are from actual gameplay - i.e. you can set the angle, location and so on. Its not a fair comparison. I mean, this was technically done in Crysis:
79917.jpg
(im not kidding)

In addition, the last 2 pics are:
Pre-release Crysis 1 images (so mid-2007) vs. BF3 SP (it shows a mission objective about an IED), and the character in question is a MAIN character. The Crysis one is a random NPC.
Pre-release Crysis 1 (not even highest settings, edgeAA is off) vs. BF3 beta, and i'd say Crysis looks better.

Go take a pic of the carrier in Krag island vs. the carrier in the Crysis MP map "carrier"
Then go take a pic of the last level (where its in-game in the interrogation room) vs. the 2nd level of Crysis where you rescue the archeologist. Crysis will win.

/edit

I see you threw down the challenge for better pics before me, so I will go get them.

Ok, here's some comparisons.
First, settings:
1920x1080 (any higher = mem overflow in BF3 on my rig)
MAX in-game settings (no nvidia tweaks, no mods - VANILLA)

BF3:
hallbf32.jpg
Crysis:
hallcrysis.jpg

This set is interesting. Firstly, we can see that BF3 pre-calcs most of its shadows. We can see this as the red light OUTSIDE the door (on the right) still casts red light on the roof, which should be impossible. Meanwhile, Crysis is 100% real-time (you can open the editor and move the lights, they update in real time).

BF3:
deckbf3.jpg
Crysis:
deckcrysis.jpg

Here its harder to say. Crysis has a LOT more objects, but the lighting is a lot more bland. I'd say I prefer Crysis, as its not a blurry mess that BF3 is, but thats personal preference. In addition, you need to ignore the background for it to be a fair comparison. Crysis' carrier is supposed to be at sea, while BF3 has its near shore. As a result BF3's might look a bit "nicer", as there's a mountain in the background, but that's comparing level design.

I could post a massive list of why Crysis is the technical winner, but I think that might be a bit overkill.

No, it won't be an overkill, I'd like to know. You're a rare breed - one of the people who can argument their opinion smile.gif I respect that.

I personally find the BF3 shots you posted as better, and I'll tell you why.
Crysis has that generic light spread over the whole scene, making it all too illuminated. I've been on ships - they don't look like that smile.gif This resembles some StarWars scenes for some reason - everything is so clean...
Also, Crysis too has static lights here and there, I've seen such.

On the second pair - you're right about the objects, however i don't see any burriness in bf3. Instead, C1 looks too simple, too... veggie, if you will. Looks like a Source game.

Anyway, keep em coming smile.gif I still haven't seen anything to change my mind.
