[Confirmed] Can't edit - or have consecutive capital letters in Article - titles.

Thread Starter

Reproducibility:

I've only submitted one article, but I can't edit it, so at least half of the bug is repeatable,

Repro Steps:

I posted an article with "OCN" in the title. Upon posting, it was changed to "Ocn". And then, when I tried to edit it, I found there was no option to edit the title of the article.

This is the article in question:

http://www.overclock.net/a/how-to-request-a-paypal-prize-from-ocn

Expected:

I expected to be able to post something like "OCN" without having it break. If caps are an issue, perhaps a limit of 3-5 capital letters in a row before going lowercase?

Also, we should definitely be able to edit the title... that's more of a missing feature than a bug.

Article title edits are on the approved-future-request docket for sure. I'm checking to see where along the process that is.

I'll move this into the "confirmed" section since we can all see the capitalization limits, but be forewarned that it might simply be a facet of the system to live with.

The title edits will probably be part of the larger overall article revamp, which is honestly a ways out yet.

So in this case, what happens is that a user types in the URL like "overclock.net/a/thisisaTESTarticle".  This creates the article, but it's not smart enough to remember how the capitalization is entered if you click "edit".  It used to default to all lowercase, and it's now defaulted to capitalizing each word for the time being, which is not perfect but generally works out better in most cases.

If you navigate to the Articles section from the nav bar, then click Add An Official Document, you can enter in the title however you want and it will be saved correctly.  This is how we designed articles to be added - the wiki user method of typing in the title wasn't initially taken into account, which is why you're seeing this discrepancy.

For now it's something to live with, though we'll address it later on.  Hope that info helps.
