what is dwm? skip the windows updates..they'll update you 'til you have to reinstall windows every time.
does your chipset have the ich10 sata controller? If so..get those from Intel..Get all your drivers from the mobo maker (except ich10)

windows desktop manager, for Aero I think, I don't have any windows updates, not even sp1 installed yet. Latest Nvidia drivers for my card doesn't like me though :S

How do I find out if I have/need this ich10 sata controller ?

Thanks.

downloading all required drivers on laptop as pc is unusable untill my new win7 disc is done.

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2986&dl=1#driver

Which drivers do I need from this selection ? I'm not using RAID I'm just using AHCI for my SSD (probably for my other hdds too.)

Intel Rapid Storage Technology ? Do I need this ?

I'm really fussy what I install I like a clean pc. Plus even more so now since I have a 40GB SSD an windows rapes the space.

My sincere apologies for the lack of response, I have been busy with multiple BSOD related cases smile.gif

The latest attached dump is a 3B bugcheck with a MS core system file, so it's either 3rd party driver related (we'll need to enable Driver Verifier, or hardware). Loaded drivers list looks okay, nothing from what I can see is flag raising as far as being out of date goes.

Let's move on and enable Driver Verifier. This will thoroughly test and stress all 3rd party drivers, and if it finds a culprit driver, it will force a crash and write a detailed dump regarding the specific driver that caused the crash initially.

If Driver Verifier doesn't BSOD or show anything after ~48 hours of its enabled time, it's likely hardware related, and I'll then ask you to run diagnostics.
