corsair vengeance low profile, question about voltage

Hello there, i'm planning to buy those corsair low profile ddr3's. The question is can i mix the white ddr3 (1.35v) and the black ddr3 (1.5v) and run everything at 1.5v? Won't the white one overheat? Thanks in advance!

really IMO i would buy RAM at the same speed and voltage at a min.. my personal preference is also same density and timmings.. smile.gif

Both the blacks and whites have the same specs, exept the voltage, my concern is about overvolting the whites to 1.5v

To clarify things up, i'll be running 2x 4gb black (1.5v) and 2x 4gb white (1.35v). A total of 4 ddr3 sticks, 16GB
post #5 of 9
well people run RAM rated at 1.5V at 1.65V and people up their 1.35V RAM to 1.5V in order to get higher clocks. i dont think heat will be a problem but the MC might be a bit stressed but should be nothing to worry about smile.gif

Are you doing this for the looks or for some practical reason like getting an amazing deal with two different rebate offers?

I did the same thing with my Vengeance LP by going with a black and blue heatspreader combo, but that's only because they were the same voltage and same price for a two-stick kit, a four-stick kit was also the same price as two twos at the time, and because the memory slots on my motherboard are black and blue. Did any of that really matter in the end? No, because my case has no window.

In your situation, I think you would be better off sticking to one or the other because of the differing voltages. It should be fine, but I don't know how tolerant the 1.35V Vengeance LP is with overvolting.
