Need help Fx 8120 :(

Hi everybody Im very new to overclock. As I use software AMD overdrive provide by AMD to overclock my Pc to overclocking, But everytime I turn off my Pc I lost my information. Let said I overclock my to 3.8 and turn off my Pc. When I turn on it back up to normal 3.1? Can somebody help me out please:( frown.giffrown.gif

Is ur CMOS battery good ?

My mobo is 970 from Gygabyte actually UD 970

replace the cmos battery it saves your bios settings and the time.... Does the time reset everytime u restart ? if so you may need to replace the battery on your mobo 319

Thank you. And yes the time does reset everytime I restart. But it kinda weird this Mobo I just bought like a month a something. How the battery out so quick?

battery probably came defective radio shack sells them and newegg......

You mean the board isn't keeping your overclocked settings after setting them in AMD Overdrive and restarting?

if yes: You need to change the settings in BIOS, not through software. What you set in software isn't retained when you restart.
if no: Bad CMOS.

Sorry about that, it's a little hard to understand what your issue is. It would help if we had a little more information on exactly what kind of settings aren't being retained.

What break said, never oc from the os. You can oc in the os just to find a stable position on the chip, but always write them down then apply them in bios. And if that isn't the issue then yes it is the battery.

This, when using Overdrive or software it will clear everytime unless you load the software on windows startup and some OC software wont save the settings, usually AMD Overdrive wont do it, dont touch the battery.... -_-'

If you want to have your Overclock settings use the bios, the software is only for testing or temp solutions but the best way is to use BIOS.
