AMD FX-6100(replacing the AMD Phenom II 1045T, coming next couple days)

I would run as far away from that PSU as I could smile.gif Also I'm not actually sure that motherboard supports an AMD FX-6100... though I could be wrong, but Gigabyte does not list it as being compatible

Hi.

I would go with an AM3+ mobo at this moment, ASUS M5A97, Gigabyte 970A-UD3 or ASRock 970 Extreme 3 are over the same price than the 880GM, or if you can go a little more in budget the Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 that's very solid.

I'm not sure about the H60, a good air cooler cost almost the same and can performs better the problem could be the space inside your case. Personally I don't think that you need a RAM cooler, so, you can save that dollars.

Finally, if this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817822013 is the PSU that you have in mind THAT'S NOT GOOD, you need a real PSU for that rig and the GPU that you want in future, something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207014

Well all this i already have, the 880gm-usb3 is the rev 3.1 so it supports the fx-6100. But thanks for all your thoughts. I'm not really using this for gaming, use the xbox for that, but mostly just internet and photo editing.

if you already have the stuff thats fine.
the motherboard is OK but if you can exchange it, i would.
you DO need to get a different power supply.
i HIGHLY suggest you do.
obviously it is up to you if you do but if you want your system to last, i would.

Honestly guys the power supply isn't going to go kaboom .. he isn't overclocking or gaming. It will be just fine. A off brand power supply is fine for what he wants to do.
Edit : most likely nothing would happen BUT if it would your entire computer could ruin.

the WORST that could happen is if it goes, you lose everything plugged into it.
so basically, you would only be able to recover your case lol.
that is of course worse case scenario.
you could lose only a few things or maybe even none at all.
i dont like to take any chances on equipment ive just spent my hard earned money on.

probably not but OP's question was "just wondering if this is a GOOD build", not "just wondering if this is a SATISFACTORY build"
those are obviously the builds two weakest flaws and if the OP wants a GOOD build, he should oblige to change at least the PSU.

Would the 6100 really best his 1045t in what he is using it for? Especially since he is not overclocking?

Also if you are not overclocking I would probably drop the memory cooler as it is really superfluous in this case.
