Which 27 inch 120hz monitor to get?

Thread Starter
I've finally decided to upgrade my monitor and buy a 120Hz 27 inch. I know there are quite a few threads on this subject and i've read them all several times but it would be nice to have some fresh feedback on the matter.

The primary purpose of this monitor will be gaming.

I had one picked out on Newegg but it was recently deactivated and it caused me to rethink my decision. This is the one I originally wanted

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001474R

I feel that the 950D is slightly better but I think that it is hideous and with the being said, I am factoring in aesthetics.

The thinner the bezels, the better.

Any and all feedback is appreciated.

Will you be using this for 3D primarily or just intrested in 120HZ gaming

This gets good reviews when using nV cards, but notice you roll with red.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236206

Unfortunatly my best advice right now is to wait for next gen as choices as of now are too limited for my liking.

But if I were to buy one today I would ahve to go with the Asus from what I have read,

TBH though I would take little stock in this post as I do not own one, owners will be able to provide some real end user advice.

I was going to grab one but with the limited selection i have decided to wait until the new 2012 screens hit the streets even if I have to wait untold months ........

Best of luck

I've looked a few time at the Asus 120Hz screens and I do like them. I've had Asus monitors forever and i've always liked their products, but I actually like the look of the 750D better. I've seen a few videos comparing the monitor that you linked to the monitor that I linked and I like the way the Samsung looked compared to the Asus one.

It seems there are really only a handful of displays to even consider and it's a shame they don't have any 120Hz monitors at a higher resolution yet for personal use.

I'm really only interested at gaming at 120Hz, I don't even like 3D. I'm sure i'll mess around with it for a few but all my serious gaming will be done in 2D at 120Hz.

Anyone own a 27inch 120Hz monitor that could share their opinions? Or someone who has heard something about the next gen 120Hz monitors?

I don't know about the next gen, but provided you have displayport out I think the 750D is the best option on the market currently. I just gut the 23" version, solely for 2d @ 120hz (I have hooked up my ps3 to it to mess around with some casual 3d gaming and it definitely exceeded my expectations) and I love it. In fact, i'm going to return it - to grab the 27" instead.

I have an S27A750D, love it. I was running 3x Viewsonic 22" 120hz monitors in nvidia surround but got tired of all the hoops you have to jump through to get it working properly half the time so I "downgraded" to a single 27" display. I don't have a lot of time to game anymore so I need stuff to just work when I sit down. I don't have time to go find the most recent fix on Widescreen Gaming Forum to make surround work with Skyrim, SWTOR, or the next big release that comes along.

Anyway, the display feels very responsive in terms of motion and input lag and the glossy coating makes everything "pop" just a little more. The 3D glasses are very comfortable for me (and I wear prescription glasses) and the TriDef software works surprisingly well. I definitely prefer it over my old 120hz displays (I had a Samsung 2233RZ and the 3x Viewsonics).

For me 27" is a good size. Would I prefer higher resolution? Yes, but we aren't likely to see 120hz at higher resolutions for a long time, if ever, so it will have to do for now.

Thanks everyone for your input, it looks like i'm probably going to stick with my original plan and get the 750D. I'm kind of tired of waiting anyway.

If anyone else has any input, please feel free to take part in this thread!
