Why would a 7850 cost less than a 7770... From what I've heard (news on french tech site) ->
7850 1gb -> 220$
7850 2gb -> 250$
7870 -> 300$

90$ each 6850 and 2 of them... I would I've bought them right away.

Yeah. I guess it seems a bit low. About the 6850s for $90 each. I'm not sure it's worth it to buy them in my case because I have two 5850s and just bought a cooler for the first GPU since it gets too hot and I was also wondering if I should just get 2x 7970 like my friend or just go for 7970. Still debating with myself lol. I could ask him to sell his 6850s here if anyone wants it.

6870 is more powerful at the moment and is cheaper, but the 7770 consumes less power, has a lower idle and load temperature, and keep in mind it will gain more performance when it's drivers mature. The Radeon 7000 series has better crossfire scaling too, so if you plan to add another one later (willing your motherboard enables you to) you will get almost 100% extra performance.

Remember also that extra vram can be pointless if your graphics card is not powerful enough to use it all, or if you just plan on running a single display at an average resolution. But if you need more vram, i suggest waiting for 78xx to come out or get a 6950 2GB when their price drops.

Just wondering though, should I get a 7770 for a first discrete GPU?
