I've been seeing some arguments about whether the PS Vita can survive in a market where Smartphone "casual" gaming is (or at least seems to be) taking over. It's an interesting argument, but it needs it's own thread rather than being dispersed throughout various Vita threads.
My personal opinion is that the Vita is not necessarily competing with smartphones and tablets. People may take "gaming" into consideration when buying a phone/tablet, but I believe that the average person is smart enough to realize that the Vita is a dedicated gaming machine, and not a well-rounded "does everything" type of device, like a tablet. However, does the average person really have the time to play Uncharted during the small breaks that life gives us? I've been mulling over this ordeal quite a bit for the past few weeks, and I'm still undecided on the Vita. I do like the concept however, basically a PS2.5 on the go.
