battlefield 3 FPS drop

Thread Starter
i have a EVGA superclocked 560Ti .

running on medium settings (yes, i know. *** MEDIUM?! . ridiculous right?)

i thought it would help smooth things out. i'm currently pushing 70 FPS on medium.

everytime i turn the corner, my screen will freeze for half a second or a full one, FPS will drop down to 0 .

it seems like lag, but it's constant, happening every night, but it's not like im moving back to where i was or teleportation, its just a drop of FPS down to 0 for a split second.

is there any software where i can determine what exactly is going on with my video card or system?

Two questions;
1. Are you monitoring(GPU) temps when this occurs? If so, what are they? If not, you need to, and post back.
2. Is this happening during graphically intense moments like flight with explosions, etc?

used to happned to me but i had two 560s (non-ti versions) on high. 30-50fps then dive to 9-15fps. could be heat, get hwmonitor and run it while you play. look at the max temp when youre done. i ended up just getting better cards and the issue went away. im not saying do that but it helped. would be nice to see how much vram you're using when it happens too. might be good to get msi afterburner to track that.

i'll try everyone's method when i get home, currently not next to my rig .

no i never monitored my GPU temp during times like that.

it doesn't matter whether there are explosions or not , it'll still do it.

i'll be running , and i'll turn the corner to look and no one is shooting at me , nothing, and i'll get a red 0 on my FPS , screen freezes for a split second and resume.

at first, i thought it was the game, this was before karkand was released =P . because i play BC2 on the highest settings, no lag , no screen freezes, but when i play bf3 its just terrible.

Well, bf3 is somewhat more demanding than bc2 biggrin.gif

my fan speed on my GPU was at 50% , when i was playing BF3 on medium settings, i reached about 65 C , idle around 40-45 C , is that right?

i turned my fan up to 100% and i was hitting 60 C .

i used the MSI program , not the afterburner but the GPU burn in software, and my max temps was hitting 70 - 75 C .

running my fan at 100% and playing BF3 did not help . i dont think heat is the issue here. still getting a big FPS drop.

im using the latest driver, if there was a very recent release after january then i don't have that.

As a matter of fact, they just released a new 295.73 WHQL driver. Heat shouldn't be an issue at ~70'ish degrees.
