HTPC users still wanna know if Ivy Bridge can compete with/beat Trinity at 65W TDP or lower. 'Cause right now, I'm feeling more love for Trinity.

so??

99.99999% of people on this forum run dedicated GPUs (sometimes multipul at that )!!

I get it for the OEMs but for the enthusiats....make one like the 2550K with no iGPU and then sell that!!

Graphics quality isn't there for Intel for HTPC use. If you need QuickSync for your HTPC, just add a $25 AMD/Nvidia card so you can get decent quality, and use the Lucid feature to switch between integrated and discrete. OTOH, if it's outright for watching video and such, AMD APU is an all-in-one solution, great graphics quality out the box and system power usage of maybe 40W for video playback.

Did you say that right? Rare.
Sure, Nvidia has driver issues sometimes, but AMD seems to have it more often.

You obviously haven't used AMD drivers (And have thus proven your lack of knowledge on the subject, proving my point that the whole "AMD drivers are bad" mess is just because people don't test and just read...) in a long time if you believe you need to use driver sweeper or safe-mode...I just converted a friends rig from HD4200 to GTX 275, uninstalled AMD drivers from Control Panel and then installed nVidia drivers. No issues...

The famous issue (GSOD) was completely user caused (Unstable OC, no matter how much Furmark said it was stable) and only happened once, as for common..I don't know where you got it from. Both have random crashing related to MPC-HC and it actually happens a shade less on the only AMD rig I have available for extensive testing (My laptop)

Unlike AMD Llano, iGPU inside of Sandy Bridge does NOT have any influence on overclock-ability. So why does it matter that if iGPU is inside K CPUs or not?

And no, there are a lot of people who buy 2500K/2600K that use Quick Sync, which needs iGPU. In fact that is one reason why Z68 is out, because during early days people were complaining how P67 lacks iGPU support. So you 99.99% is way out of proportion.

wow, there score is reaching out to the area of a a8-3650 more than doubled the hd 3000. and you can still oc it.

give it time, at this rate intel will surpass amd in integrated graphics, and eventually put out IGPU that will meat the performance of mid-range graphics cards of the same generation.

intel hd 7000 graphics comparable to a GTX 860 TI...

It looks like the Intel iGPU is almost good enough for most casual gamers, and is catching up to AMD's older APUs. A few more generational improvements like this one and the <$150 discreet GPU market will evaporate.

I got 1800MHz stable on my HD 3000. I was pretty impressed.

And to the haters, this is probably going to be on par with low end trinity.

I think its a good thing that its faster but at the same time tho since I have never had any experience with the iGPUs except on my gfs laptop that seems pretty decent for doing anything the from web browsing, watching movies, and like gaming (see dont care as long as it plays lol). And when I told her about ivybridge she told me she wanted it for her laptop cause I told her the iGPU might allow her to play skyrim on it as she like games where you can kill stuff like War Lords III and Dragon Age. But I doubt its a drop in for laptop cpus

But I like the fact Lucid is integrated into Z68 chipset so that way you can have your discrete card set at idle and let the iGPU do all the desktop stuff. And I havent heard much about it since it was released so Im kinda on the fence of the whole thing. As I like to save as much power as possible with max performance, which is why I like how SB can keep all its energy saving features on while still being able to overclock it.

Cause I dont see a point in my discrete using more power just to offload decoding of x264 if the igpu can do it for me at the same quailty with less power usage.
