Question on how to hook this up.

Thread Starter
i plan on purchasing this Dayton Audio T-Amp and B652 Speaker Bundle and this Dayton Audio SUB-100 HT Series 10" 125 Watt Powered Subwoofer as i have seen them recommended here a few times. but the knowledge I am lacking is how do i hook it up to my computer?

i plan on using my on board audio from my Maximus IV Extreme-z motherboard. so would the connection be audio out>t-amp>sub>speakers?

any help would be awesome since I am currently in the dark about this kind of hardware.

Hook the speakers and sub up to a receiver with speaker wire, then go RCA to analog to the back of your computer.

edit: I didn't look at the back of the receiver, of course it's not a traditional design.. Seems bad. Anyways, on-wards with the proper explaination. So hook your speakers up to the receiver with speaker wire like you normally would. Then Put the sub into either of those channels as well. Get a male to male 3.5mm stereo cord to go from the back of the amp to your computer.

so i would pick either the left or right channel to hook the sub up to?

why couldn't i go from the t-amp to the sub since the sub also has inputs/outputs to both channels? i'm not doubting your answer by any means. i just want to know why that wouldn't work.

this is what i am talking about. (ignore my awesome paint skills)

Well it will work both ways. Just to keep more power to the sub, it would be best to hook the speakers up to the amp instead so it's not taking from it's pool of power.

Depends if your on board supports multi input. If it does then you can hook the sub up by RCA to analog in the orange port. It's going to be the same thing though since the sub isnt drawing power from the amp, it's got it's own.

i tried that and i couldnt get it to work. the way i have it hooked up right now is computer output>sub[low level in/out]>t-amp>speakers. i dont like that i can't control the sub volume with the rest of the music so it just overpowers everything when i turn the music down from the amp.

would hooking it up like this be better as far as sound quality and whatnot?

output>t-amp>sub [high level]> speakers <-- is that a better way to do it since i could then control everything from t-amp/computer volume.?

i really think i should of just gone with a plug and play model. it would make it easier but i wanted the challenge and now i'm stuck. help anyone?

i know there is a 24hour bump limit but it will be late night when other people won't see it. please forgive me.

but i could use a bit of help. like i've said before i am new to this and i would really appreciate the help.

//edit//
sorry for the put down. but you "audiophile" guys can never seem to help anyone out. i think the question i asked is a fair noob question. and most likely this is just another one of the same questions you guys always get, but i can't seem to find an answer hence why i am asking. if everyone knew everything there wouldn't be an audio forum or heck even OCN for that matter. 2cents.gifthumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

don't bother answering.. i'll just do it on my own

other than that +reps for yumyums for actually trying to help.

Im guessing you got it hooked up, since your paint diagram was correct. If your sub is overpowering the bookshelf speakers turn the gain knob down on the back of the sub.
