Who Else Thinks PC Gaming Is a Pain? - Page 14

Much of your complaints wouldn't be complaints on a xbox because an xbox doesn't have those features i.e. crossfire, eyefinity.

It's just the nature of the beast. and if you have no access to broadband I am sorry! I don't know how I would live without it.

I get your frustrated but it is all a learning curve.

Before long you will feel like a pro.

Personally I don't know much about crossfire. (crossfired a 4870 with 4850 couple of years ago)

and have no experience with eyefinity. I see those as your main complaints besides slow connection to steam

I have a friend in the same situation as you, he's somewhere in the US on dial up still and he hates steam with a passion. He'll often disappear for months and when he comes back he says he rage quit because of his internet tongue.gif

Anyway, he just cracks all his steam games that he's bought, runs no steam or w/e I'm not sure exactly since I use steam..

As for your crossfire issues, I take it due to your internet situation you very rarely update drivers?

I have Wild Poo myself so I know how it feels. I pay $86/month for Pro Pack and atm it's like I am on Dial Up! I never get anywhere Close to there "UP TO" speeds and am always fighting against the ludicrous Fair Access Policy Now known as the Data Allowance Policy. mad.gif

I have all the latest drivers (I download them with my iPhone [unlimited data ftw!] then I put them on my computer) I have read though that 12.1 isn't very good? Idk.

We actually just updated to the pro pack. Of course they still haven't put it into effect yet so here I am stuck without Internet (went over our bandwidth limit)

I'm not expecting any godly speed, but what kind of download speeds do you get on average? I usually get 20-30 Kbps (I'm not sure if that abbreviation is for bits or bytes but I mean bytes)

And what is the cap? Wild blue's website is down at the moment so I can't check. I'm hoping for 20gb yeah? biggrin.gif lol I think it's actually 15 though.

I'm sure someone's already said it in one of the bazillion pages of replies, but I didn't feel like pouring through them to find out, so I have just one thing to say......

PEBKAC.

That is all.

Ouch. Okay well no one seems to be getting what I'm trying to say. All in getting at is I wish game developers would add support for crossfire and Eyefinity so I don't have to.

Yup, it would be nice wouldn't it? Definitely not a PEBKAC error either.

As I said earlier, single monitor, single GPU setups are easy as hell. Its when you start doing multi monitor and multi GPU that things start to go haywire sometimes.

That is happening slowly. Its all supply and demand. The majority of people who game don't use dual card's or multiple monitor's, those are small nitch group's. Mind you, the number of people using both of those is on the rise. The more people lining up and using both of those means more money to be made by them. That in turn means more money spent trouble shooting problem and an overall higher priority.

If you want more/better support your best bet is to keep using them and show the force's that be that you as a consumer do want to use them.

Thank you. I realize that my system is slightly more complex, but I'm not the only one with a system like this. You would think that major games would take interest in a wider majority of PC gamers.
