Yup, opinionated. Do a search on AMD gpu drivers... Lots of opinions...

PC gaming is not a pain for me, i keep my computer clean, inside and out. Keep everything organized ( folders and such ) and i can honestly say i have never ran into driver issues, steam issues and so on. The only issue i have ever had was with skyrim and the new ENB 0.105 injector ( had to revert back to 0.102 ). Maybe im lucky.

The payoff for dealing with PC gaming is great.
But, ultimately, it comes down to tolerance and time.

I'm sick and tired of dealing with PC games. Ontop of that, I have almost no time at all to deal with them to begin with. So I end up not bothering. I've been living off my PS3 and 360, now my Vita, and some BF3 on the PC here and there.
But unless a game is so freakin fantastic for the PC that is must have, I will never buy a day 1 PC game again. I'm tired of bugs, I'm tired of having to mod everything, and MOST OF ALL I'm tired of driver support. Both sides of the green and red fence are just ugh. Whether lack of multimonitor support, terrible performance, flickering, stuttering, multiGPU scaling, its all gone to hell

OmegaNemesis said it the best in those first two lines. I just built a pretty serious machine and I think it's worth it...for now. The graphics a 7970 can produce are amazing compared to the consoles i've been playing for the past 5 years. My jaw almost hit the floor when i fired up BF3 on ultra settings. Not sure when that shock factor will fade away. I do find it a pain in the ass trying to work around random bsod issues, flickering, errors, etc in games. Maybe i'm just justifying my purchase. I also don't get the big deal about driver issues and all the other petty crap people argue about. I'm pretty much a "noob" and any problem (which have been many) i've had didn't take more than a 2 minute google search. There are still great games that will come out for the 360 that will never see the PC. (or it will but a year later) Who the hell cares. Play both.

Hardware wise it's hardly a pain for me. Software is what can be frustrated aka Fallout 3/ NV. mad.gif Why you so crashy!

Pretty well said, i also console game a little but i will confess, i haven't played my 360 or PS3 in near 5 months. PC gaming is incredible but takes some knowledge on hardware and software ( google can be your best friend if your a noob or Altavista was when i was just starting out ). It does suck though if you have a slow internet connection, a buddy of mine is just getting into PC gaming but his area only allows for SKYBLUE while i have FIOS. I have been very lucky that i havent seen a single BSOD or error since the trial and error of my overclocking of my 2600K but with websites like this, i know if i run into any issues i cant figure out, someone here will know. thumb.gif

Now I hate to toot my own horn but I like to think I have a pretty good knowledge with hardware and software. I don't know everything, but of I have a problem I can usually fix a problem. The thing is, I'm tired of having to constantly fix problems. I spend more time working on a fix than I do playing the game and that's no fun. I have barely got my feet wet with of gaming though. I've only tried Eyefinity on a couple of games, and only crossfire on skyrim and gta.

I think I'm going to do a clean install tonight. It's time consuming and I've been putting it off, but it needs to be done. No cleaning can match the clean of a format!

I don't.

I am actually surprised that you thought you would find support for such an idea at a computer enthusiast's forum!

That's like going to a meeting of the local branch of the Ferrari Club and asking people if they don't agree that bicycles are so much better than cars... biggrin.gif

Anyway, I understand your reasons for thinking so and must say that PC gaming is just not for everyone.
Why? Well, there's over 60 posts that can explain that much better that I would care to.

Don't like it? Don't bother yourself.
Console is way cheaper and much more accessible.

There's no shame into descending from the upper echelons of PC gaming and mingling again with the uncouth plebes of console gamers wink.gif
(that's obviously a lame classist-joke, I don't really think like that)

Oh, and as graphic cards go, you will have a much easier time (software-wise) with nvidia than with ATI/AMD.
Not because of the quality or any such thing but because nvidia has a stronger grip on the gaming industry and, therefore, it is generally able to "influence and take advantage" of game studios and publishers more effectively than AMD. Sad but true.

Yeah I don't think I'll go with amd again. I'm really considering getting a 680 or whatever they decide to call it when it comes out. But I doubt it will work with three monitors.
