Who Else Thinks PC Gaming Is a Pain? - Page 9

Eyefinity has really spoiled me too. I don't think I can go back to 16:9 gaming. There is just so much you miss. And I love having a keyboard. It isn't a necessity, but you're so much more free. Little things like pushing m for map in skyrim are really handy.

This.

When I first ventured into the PC community I found myself lacking in the GPU dividend, I had 8800 GTs in SLI (pre-built PC, I learned why they are so hated against). Then I went and built my own rig, with 2 GTX 280s. Too be honest I had no idea of how drivers worked, proper installation, finding and fixing problems. Then I had to deal with my Ultra X3 being unable to power the 2 cards in SLI, constant driver issues that would restart the entire PC. It was a mess back then, but now its all behind me and I've learned a lot.

As pengs said, you may have jumped in too fast, but give it time and you'll realize why PC gaming is where it's at. I can't touch a controller unless I'm playing Alice:Madness Returns anymore.

I don't want to sound like a douche but I really think everyone is underestimating me. I have googled like no other and I can not find fixes for GTA EFLC Crossfire or Skyrim Eyefinity (on the latest version)

I've spent the past hour trying to find a fix for one of those games. I've also thrown borderlands into the mix. The only fixes that work are outdated and the files have been deleted. I think its ridiculous that I have to rely on random people on the internet instead of the actual game developers to get the game to actually work. But its whatever. I just wanna kill stuff.

I do have all the latest crossfire patches and what not though. If I can't download it with my home ISP I use my iPhone and copy it to my computer.
Btw I use wild blue Internet. 512kbps ftw! But I'm lucky if I see half that.
EDIT: I have been using radeon pro. It's really helped, but I still haven't been able to even really use crossfire. Like I said, skyrim is unplayable. I even tried it with messed up menus and I was getting worse performance. Gta did get a slight performance bump with cfx though. My max fps didn't increase but my min fps did. Too bad I don't have sound! As far as I can tell the only way to really fix that is to format windows. If I need to do that I will, but I really hate putting in all that time. I've already put in so much time to this giant headache. I just want random violence at 5760x1920 @60 fps. Is that too much to ask D;
Actually modding gta has been the easiest part of the whole deal.

Same here buddy and last night I downloaded Darkness 2, took the whole night when I woke up to go to work it had downloaded, Try copying over your games to another location, it should be C:\Your user\Programe files\ steam\steam apps and copy that folder to enother location. COmpletetly remove steam and it should erase its settings, and re install then copy the game folder and your games should automatically update and be playable.

Well, no, he can't. His internet sucks, it's hardly reason to jump to piracy as the fix, especially when piracy requires downloading through aforementioned sucky internet.

If you're having trouble making a connection to Steam servers for login credentials, downloading an 8gb game is probably not going to be on the agenda.

First of all, nobody said "piracy".
Second - downloading a 500kb offline crack is almost equal in traffic to posting once on OCN.

Computers and internet (that's not slow) are 2 things that go hand in hand

thats like having a car chassis, but no engine to put in?

But yeah i can understand why it would annoy you.

personally i have a 20mbit connection and its flawless.. i couldn't live without internet...

but not liking pc gaming in general because of steam is madness

theres plenty of good games that doesnt run through it..

starcraft 2 just to name one

oh, right. Those unmentionable things. Sorry, my mistake. Yeah, that is a very good point and really would solve the problem.

A pain? Yes.
Worth it? Hell yes!

btw, xfire sucks.
I think I'll stay with 1 card, 1 gpu solutions in the future.
As long as I get somewhat the same gpu power that I have now, 1 gpu card would be an upgrade for me.
Negative scaling... that's a concept I never want to see again.
