Hello all at Overclock.net cheers.gif

I have some time to kill for a week until my 2500k arrives so I'd like to do something productive in the meantime.
I see a lot of people around the web looking for info and benches on the AMD apu on a laptop.

Please allow me to provide it.

Here's some links to get you started on research if needed.

HP DV6 6xxxx lounge, there really is lots of pages to go through here..
http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-pavilion-notebooks/588705-hp-dv6z-amd-llano-6xxx-series-owners-lounge.html

How to overclock Llano? So easy a caveman can do it.. Includes everything you need to know and what you need to do it
http://slappablog.com/2011/12/08/laptop-llano-sabine-overclocking-guide-a4-3300m-a6-3400m-a8-3500m/

Of coarse there is a bios mod for this laptop here..
This will allow more functionality from the locked bios supplied by HP, I would recommend the non overclocked bios found on page 4 post # 32
http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-Unlocked-sp54724-HP-Dv6-6135dx-amd

I am in the process of running some benches with the laptop at stock speeds.
I will separate them out into multiple categories for testing.
APU with 6620G only
APU with 6750M only
APU with 6620G+6750M Crossfire

I will be testing out the switchable graphics as well and what we can expect from the video settings in the bios.

I have the cpu stable at 2.4Ghz-1.15v I haven't attempted to go higher but I will soon enough ,the lowest v-core achievable in K10stat is 0.8375v, this is not a limit of the chip but no changes are recognized after 0.8375v by the cpu. So the minimum is set at 800Mhz-0.8375v
keep in mind that stock settings are 1.5Ghz -1.06v with turbo 2.4Ghz-1.35v and a low at 800Mhz-0.9250v

Oh I forgot to mention I have a Mushkin Chronos Sata3 120Gb ssd installed for now, I will be placing it with my 2500k and putting my old Gskill Phoenix pro Sata2 60Gb ssd in the laptop instead. Until then let the benches commence.

I will be posting some benches as they become available,
Thanks JieMan aaevil.gif

What do you want to see for benchmarks?
Please post any relevant information to what you are comparing to and any input you may have.

Just for a reference, this is my Phenom II 940 at 3.6 with a GTX280

CONCLUSION
This is where I'll add the final visual graphs and thoughts I have on the different types of configurations.

I ran my PII with a GTX280 thrown in the mix...
specviewwithPIIresults.png

NOTES:
In bios I set up power xpress, allowing me to decide on what gpu I wanted as primary.
this is a little different than the stock switchable graphics mode settings.
In power xpress you are given a choice on which gpu you want as primary based on power choice, basically you can decide to run the dedicated 6750m while plugged in and the integrated on die 6620g with battery.

In switchable graphics mode the integrated 6620g always acts a primary ( power saver ) but you can decide which application can take advantage of using the dedicated 6750m ( high performance ) or set up Crossfire as well for ( high performance )

This is how the GPU's configurations are set up with different modes.
The Switchable and Xpress modes have to be set up in bios, Hp ships with Swithcable enabled.

Switchable
swithcable.png
swithcableps.png
swithcablehp.png

Xpress
powerxpress.png
xpressps.png

Crossfire can be enabled in Switchable mode only.

probably be quite a bit faster if you matched up the ram so they would run dual channel.

Moar bandwidth = more Llano GPU domination.

Is the integrated graphics overclocked, and same question for discrete?

SpecViewPerf 11, it's almost a 1GB download but pleeeease biggrin.gif ? Specifically the Solidworks bench at 1080p, with the integrated and discrete.

Maybe Cinebench multithreaded or something. I'm guessing the A8-3500M blows away the i5 laptops with it's ~60% overclock.

Yes they are in dual channel. They are set up with 4Gb on CH A and 2Gb on CH B, I am in the process of picking up an 8Gb kit at 1600Mhz.
You are right though, Llano likes more bandwidth on the ram because the integrated gpu on the cpu relies on the regular system ram while the discrete is dedicated. I think you will find that the gpu benches will speak for themselves on this.

I will get right on that d/l , 1Gb? meh... I've got fiber smile.gif
I won't be running any 1080P tests until tomorrow most likely though, I have to go out to the living room for that as I feel most will be using an external monitor at times, I want to evaluate that process as well.
I haven't overclocked the gpu's at all yet, I have o.c. the cpu some though and have not hit a limit while playing around up to 2.5Ghz, I will find the max though at some point thumb.gif
I will get cinabench up in a bit , stock and oc to 2.4Ghz

Well there's some problems with the way the switching between the gpu's works durring benchmarks. Most wont clear without some error for detecting output. I think that the way the board and chipset are set up is routing every thing through the APU to the output, even the dedicated has to rout through there no matter what, it seems to be playing fine in regular gaming though, its just when the benches switch tests and such. I'm gonna start getting up what will run just on the dedicated card. without problems.

Well I just picked up a set of these to replace the junk HP put in there. These should be an improvement for sure.

I saw they had them for desktops too, and I couldn't resist 30nm at 1.25v, post-flame-small.gif.

I have a nice set of Gskill eco 4Gb low voltage currently waiting for my 2500k setup but I can't find another set anywhere to make 8Gb.
I guess these Gskill are headed for craigslist, lol

JieMan, thanks a lot for those SpecviewPerf benches! The 6620G graphics are a solid 30% faster than 6520G for the Solidworks (sw-02) bench. 6750M isn't much faster, but Solidworks is very peculiar with specific graphics cards it seems, heck the 6990M gets a lower score than the 6770M, and the big mean 580M only gets 8FPS. I can't talk, as my laptop's HD 3000 only gets ~4 FPS.

Well, now I'm definitely considering an AMD APU for my next laptop. Now I just wonder if AMD 7000 series will be much faster; because as it is, I'd triple my Solidworks 3D performance and maybe get a 50% gain on render speed with an A8.
