How about this one of you show me your 580 coming within 10% of my graphics score. If anyone can do it I'll shut up.
http://3dmark.com/3dm11/2763130
It's 9830 by the way. The top system scores for 580's on 3dmark's results page with the exception of two total overall (These are the absolute top clocked and trust me my 7970 is nowhere near the top clocked ones) don't come within 10% so I doubt yours will either but someone if they want should come prove me wrong. Or else I'll keep posting factual info and you can keep making stuff up.
Hint a 1ghz core 580 scores about 8000 that's about 20% fyi.

How about this:

Probably complain that he is using liquid nitrogen. Which was what I brought up, its not fair to compare a bench like this to yours. Nor was HardOCPs purposely biased review fair.

OC a 3GB 580s and the performance gap can be removed to a stock 7970. Then you can overlock the 7970 and the performance gap increases again. Thats all we are saying. We are the real owners of such cards and know exactly what they are capable of.

Now, are we saying the 580 is better / faster than the 7970? No, the 7970 is newer, slicker. and faster. Its not redonkulously faster though, like everyone is claiming. Not to mention that CFX is broken right now for a few of us. Unless we want to benchmark Metro2033 some more.

He posted some reviews a couple of pages back. I've found that most reviews are not entirely fair one way or the other so i tend to stick to my own numbers.

I have to say I would take that 580 over my 7970 but I'd have to pay someone to pour LN2 onto it while I was gaming.

Anyway honestly I really don't care what anyone thinks. Dumb argument. Like I said it's all over the internet. Once people start accusing random hardware sites of bias is when I check out.

Okay, if it isn't biased, why don't they OC the 580, or use a comparable model such as a 3GB card at 4 Megapixel resolution with max Anti-Aliasing?

I claim bias, because I can't think of why they would choose a 1.5GB card over a 3GB at least. Or an OCed 580. Secondly, it was due to many of us crying foul that they finally properly reviewed 6990 + 6970 CFX against 580 SLI. They had to issue an apology and change their test rig.

lol. I didn't quote any of the OC'd benchmarks bro.

I have a hard time believing bias in something like this. If you are biased against a certain silicon manufactuer you have a lot more time on your hands then I do. Only thing I said is taht there is that the gap between the two cards is larger then 10%. Which it is. If you want to believe otherwise you are welcome to.

You do realize that AMD sponsors Hardocp events ALL the time right? A lot of their reviews are biased towards AMD, this is common knowledge around here.

Funny, this is what you quoted, from their review. If you had read the entire article and saw the graphs and the settings, you would see its set up to make the 7970 favorable.

From Hardocp. http://www.hardocp.com/article/2012/01/25/asus_radeon_hd_7970_video_card_review/1 This is a review of the same reference card I own.
Batman.
At these higher settings the performance gap between the new generation ASUS Radeon HD 7970 and the reference Radeon HD 6970 and GeForce GTX 580 is more pronounced. At stock settings it averaged 41.8 FPS which is 18.7% faster than the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 at 35.2 FPS and 70.6% faster than the AMD Radeon HD 6970 which averaged only 24.5 FPS
Skyrim.
The ASUS Radeon HD 7970 averaged 59 FPS in Skyrim at these lower settings, resulting in a 9.1 FPS, or 18.2%, performance gain compared to the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 that averaged 49.9 FPS. The AMD Radeon HD 6970 was playable with an average FPS of 44.8, but the ASUS Radeon HD 7970 was 31.6% faster.
Battlefield 3
The ASUS Radeon HD 7970 at these settings averaged 45.9 FPS, a 29.2% performance advantage compared to the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 which averaged 35.5 FPS. The AMD Radeon HD 6970 performed much slower at 31.1 average FPS. The ASUS Radeon HD 7970 was 47.5% faster than the AMD Radeon HD 6970..
The overclocked ASUS Radeon HD 7970 performed 8.5 average FPS faster than at its stock settings, a 17.8% performance gain. Compared to the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580, the overclocked ASUS Radeon HD 7970 performed 18.6 FPS or 52.3% faster. It was also 23 average FPS or 74% faster than the struggling AMD Radeon HD 6970.
Deus Ex
The stock ASUS Radeon HD 7970 had an average of 69.8 FPS at these settings. It performed 48.8% faster or 22.9 FPS above the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 which averaged 46.9 FPS. The ASUS Radeon HD 7970 was also 60.4% faster than the AMD Radeon HD 6970.
As if the performance on the stock ASUS Radeon HD 7970 wasn't enough, the overclock provided more than enough performance to mop up the competition. The ASUS Radeon HD 7970 benefited from a 12.7 average FPS or 18.1% performance increase over the stock settings. Compared to the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 it performed 32.6 FPS or 76% faster. Compared to the AMD Radeon HD 6970 the ASUS Radeon HD 7970 performed 39 FPS or 89.6% faster, leaving it in the dust.
Average = 28%
This is about as much as you can expect from a new generation of cards. I like these reviews to because they test new relevant games rather then throwing in Source engine or ID tech 4 games in like it really matters at all now. The 7970 is as good as anyone reasonable expected it to be.

I personally love the "mop up the competition." That just screams neutrality.

I am not biased, I pointed out a flaw in their testing and that their results are indicative of what we have seen here on OCN. You claim its better than a 580. I personally have had 2x 580s and while yes the 2x 7970s I currently are faster, they aren't light years faster than the 580s. They are better than 2x 6970s though for sure. Not only were tests set up to make the 7970 shine, but HardOCP have a past spotlighting AMD/ATI. You dismissed TechPowerUps numbers because they weren't as high.

So we are clear too, its not polite to refer to someone as "bro."

"We are ramping up our Kepler generation very hard, and we could use more wafers. The gross margin decline is contributed almost entirely to the yields of 28nm being lower than expected. That is, I guess, unsurprising at this point,” said Jen-Hsun Huang, chief executive officer of NVIDIA, during a conference call with financial analysts. thinking.gif

I don't know about you, but I'm not excited.
Well you two can go worry about Hardocp's bias I'll get back to the real world. 10%. That's was my only point. Just flipping thru the Tom's review as you made me curious and it's pretty much the same results not quite as wide a gulf but the review was in December when the drivers were really bad. Shoot that review has the 7970 beating the 590 in a couple games.

But they are probabally biased to.

Edit: When did I refer to you as bro? lol. I specifically said in this thread going from a 580 to a 7970 would not be a wise choice as there is not a huge gulf between the two. Only thing I said was that it was larger then 10% which it obviously is. What are you even arguing?
