[Sweclockers] GeForce GTX 670 Ti - Coming March 11-31, Faster Than GTX 580 - Page 3

No, it's worth the money at its price. It offers better performance than the GTX 580, and is priced accordingly.

This is coming from a guy that upgraded from 6990/6970 trifire.

I suppose that would make the 580 a $270 card then or something? And the 560Ti a $150 card? Hell I guess the 7770 should be $50.

Oh wait thats not how it works lol.

Nah.

Cause the 580 is sill superior to the 7970. 10-15% doesn't impress me. We're talking stock here, not OC'ed. PhysX, CUDA, these things are well worth it.

Everyone complains NVIDIA is over-priced, yet ATi does the same and "Oh, it's cool, it's -worth that price", but NVIDIA does it. "Greedy NVIDIA!"

Or take it the other way around: Nvidia does it all the time but AMD does it once and Nvidia fans cry foul.

And I think overclocking is quite relevant here in comparing these cards. Anyone who buys a 7970 is pretty much guaranteed a a free 15-20% overclock without increasing the voltage. There's no reason not to take advantage of that and no reason not to consider it when talking about the 7970's performance.

The difference is, Nvidia pretty much prices their cards at a price point that they want, whether or not it's overpriced compared to the competition and the cards still have no problems selling, and selling well.

AMD HAS to play the price/performance card - this is how they sell. This is what AMD has always done. AMD has tremendous value when it comes to price/performance - Nvidia will usually take the performance crown in head-to-head comparisons with competing cards, but at a price point not consistent with how AMD has priced their competing card. But what people don't realize is they do this because THEY CAN. If AMD changed their pricing structure and went toe-to-toe with Nvidia on pricing, they would probably lose out.

And no, i'm no fanboy to either side - i've owned every iteration of ATI/AMD cards outside of the 6000/7000 series...this is just what I see based on the pricing strategies of both companies.

I find it extremely difficult take these Kepler rumors seriously. There are way too many of them, and they are contradictory.

CUDA? You serious? lachen.gif Woo.
I apologize in advance, but i'm going to be obnoxious here for a second (and lets not kid ourselves, your post was pretty inflammatory)
http://vr-zone.com/articles/nvidia-in-for-a-tough-year-pressure-on-both-high-end-and-low-end-/14937.html

Some NV guys are almost as bad as the apple apologists. Of course its worth 600$, it has physx! Physx games average a whopping 1 title per 11 months! Nvidia apologists at their best, of course the 850$ 8800 ultra is fine. 700$ GTX 280, PLEASE take my money nvidia! The GTX 480 which is 10% faster than the 5870 with 2x higher TDP is worth it! Hilarious. VR-zone and SA report that the GK110/GK112 won't be here until Q4. Have fun with the wait - with that attitude it will be a bitter dose of irony that NV won't even topple the 7970 until Q4.
