You also lose almost fully glitch-free/stable multi-card if you go to the 7970, whereas 580 sli is pretty much solid. Finally, you don't get Ambient Occlusion in a good number of major titles from the driver, which is a huge lighting/shadowing improvement, on non-nVidia setups.

Yeah! Lets all pat each other on the back and cheer at the failure of nvidia to dethrone 7970 with GK110 until Q3-Q4 2012.biggrin.gif I expected a clear 7970 alternative, not something that might as well be a GTX 580 rebadge with better thermals. You can nitpick about AO, while nvidia doesn't allow you to use SGSSAA unless you separately download something like nvidia inspector. These are still rumors and we won't have facts until the card is released, but if all the rumors are true its simply a disappointment that NV can't release their crap on time (ie GK110)

After all, at the staggering rate of 1 physx title per year, clearly developers are flocking to it. That sounds like it is clearly worth a 200% premium! thumb.gif

Because you know exactly what the performance of GK104 will be, right?

Yeah! You do realize that even adding Q3 to your prediction would put it coming out sometime between July and December?

As for physx, I can't be 100% certain because I don't really follow it, but I'm sure there have been more than 1 title per year(albeit with limited usage) - batman, alice, 7554 in 2011... Arma, deep black and metro: last light out later this year.  Aside from Metro, I have little interest in the aforementioned games, still your blanket 1 title per anum statement is wrong.

-edit- nvm figured it out

-edit- #2

Just realized the the 670 ti is GK104 and not GK110 >< my bad.  Was thinking they were releasing GK110 parts with disabled SM cores to build stock of the higher margin lower volume perfect cores - aka 680.  As it stands now, Q3-Q4 may very well be accurate.

Oh, and anyone have a clue as to why my quote doesn't actually display as a quote?

I guess I don't understand all the 7970 is a $300 card talk. The 7970 is 10+% faster than the 3GB 580 and less than 10% more expensive. Seems like it's priced exactly where it should be for now.

I wouldn't believe a word about Kepler until they're being sold and independent reviews are rolling in. All the rumors going from the 7970 is going to stomp the 780, to last weeks rumors that the $200 660 is going to stomp the 7970, to this weeks very believable 670 is going to be between the 7950 and 7970. It's just been way too much across the board for any prediction to be credible. 2cents.gif

Hmm, I was going to purchase a 7950 in the near future, but now I think I'll wait for this. I hope that $300 price mark is true...
I'm confused...

If the 670ti is the successor to 560ti, does that mean 680 will be successor to 570 and 690 to 580? What will the successor to 590 be called then? :/ Why didnt they stick with the same format?

Just a query in case i misunderstood something.

Is the 670ti different or better than than a standard 670? Like what the 560ti is to a 560.
