Overclocked Athlon 64 x2 4800+

Hi guys... I've been a member but recently rediscovered this site. In a couple days im getting my friends q6600 and mobo, cheap, but in the meantime, I want to have some fun with my amd Athlon 64 x2 4800+.

Currently, I have it overclocked from 2.5ghz to 3ghz in windows using nvidia control panel. CpuID shows the overclock. Ran prime 95 all night and totally stable. Max temp under prime 95 was 42c.

I wonder... Would I have room for more? (can't adjust voltages.)

have a cheapo ECS NFORCE6M-A v2 AM2 motherboard. (got it and processor on craigslist for 50 bucks). so cannot control ANY voltage of any kind.

The case I'm using, I bought on craigslist for 10 bucks. it's a monster of a case... old server case. 700
this is how it looked when I bought it. I painted it and now it looks like this....
700
and the airflow I have going with it is like this.
700

I'm pretty much maxed out at 3GHz, since the nVidia control panel will only OC to maybe 3.2 or 3.3GHz....or am I? I'm also using a cheapo 500w power supply at the moment.

The only way to find out is to try it, each chip is different. Thermally it has plenty of headroom.

the max safe temp is around 60c, right?

I have a 4400+ and at 2.55ghz it goes upto 62°c (though my cpu fan is running at 50%) with half an hour of intense gaming and since i also have an ECS motherboard, i can't control the voltage therefore i'm also trying to find a way to increase voltage...

Just wanted to tell you that around 60-65 should be the limit. Anything above is dangerous because i've recently read that these processors have a dead end at around 70°c.
