im pretty sure the terminal velocity of a DVD case with a weather balloon attached is pretty damn low.

Has anyone thought for a second just how utterly trivial this is? I mean seriously, here we have a company launching video games into space on weather balloons so that they can randomly fall God knows where. Sure many people will probably get a copy but I'm also sure many will probably be lost and never even found.
Think of the numerous things EA could have spent that money on that would have been better. Maybe feeding some starving kids. Maybe helping out a family who lost everything in a natural disaster. Or hell if your not a charity type person (I'm really not that big into charity myself tbh) how about using some of that money to help innovate your games?

Ok. But that's not the point here. It would be fine and dandy for every marketing stunt to be diverted to charity. But they aren't. Because then all marketing companies would go out of business because who wants to say "Hey I need to promote my new game" and have some guy say back "Well let's feed starving kids!"

And as a result more children would starve when out of work marketers can no longer feed their families.

It's not any different than if it fell from a ten story building. Regardless of altitude, the object will decelerate as it descends because of increased air resistance. It'll come down fast but not "burn-a-hole-through-your-roof-and-floor-leaving-only-a-charred-crater-behind"

I bet you think the world is round too. Jeez

I surprised to see no mention from the more hippie crowd of how this is polluting the planet with senseless waste.

Just wait and find out the day of launch a 747 has to make an emergency landing due to a dvd clogging up a turbine hahaha!!!!!
