First time water cooling...check my list

Thread Starter
i want to start saving up for a custom loop for my sig rig and i made a list of parts well i made 2 lists one with my GPU in the loop and one with just the CPU im also going to need a new case and i have decided to go with the NZXT Switch 810. I already have 7 of the fans i listed from my current build and i figured with the GPU in the loop i am only going to need 2 more fans and with just the CPU in the loop i wont need to buy any more fans. BTW i am going to be overclocking the CPU but i dont know about the GPU and am i also going to need to upgrade my PSU??? i have a seasonic X650 right now

The first list is with the GPU
  • Case - NZXT - Switch 810 - $170.00
  • CPU Block - XSPC - Raystorm - $63.00
  • GPU Block - EK - EK-FC6870 - $105.00
  • Res/Pump Combo - XSPC - X2O 750 - $70.00
  • Tubing - PrimoFlex - LRT UV Red ID(1/2) OD(1/2) - $1.80 per ft for 15 ft = $27.00
  • Radiator - XSPC - EK360 -$60.00
  • Fittings - Bitspower G1/4 Compression ID(1/2) OD(3/4) @ $10.00 a piece for 8pc. = $80.00
  • Fans - Rosewill - RFX-120mm - $9.00ea. = $18.00
  • Silver Coil - $6.99
  • Total = about $600.00

This is just CPU
  • Case - NZXT - Switch 810 - $170.00
  • CPU Block - XSPC - Raystorm - $63.00
  • Res/Pump Combo - XSPC - X2O 750 - $70.00
  • Tubing - PrimoFlex - LRT UV Red ID(1/2) OD(1/2) - $1.80 per ft for 10ft = 18.00
  • Radiator - XSPC - EK240 - $45.00
  • Fittings - Bitspower G1/4 Compression ID(1/2) OD(3/4) @ $10.00 a piece for 6pc. = $60.00
  • Silver Coil - $6.99
  • Total = about $420.00

im really new to watercooling so if there is anything that you would change or if u suggest one list over the other than let me know
[EDIT] I want to try and keep it at around $550.00 for the 1st list and $400.00 for the second just letting u know if u make any changes

Or I might just go with the rasa rs360 kit but I dunno

I would get another CPU block like the Raystorm.

Make sure the tubing is the exact same as the fittings.

Edit: And order a silver kill coil too.

You want to prevent algae from building up in your loop. So you buy distilled water from the grocery store which should have metal ions and contaminants removed. The Silver kills anything that tries to grow.

Well if you have the budget, I haven't ever heard someone say they regret adding a GPU to there loops. As far as the rest of your parts, I don't know, heck I am using the stock cooler...
First of all, your PSU will be more than fine, even with INSANE overclocking. You will probably only use 400 watts of it. My rig only uses 550 watts max, with overclocking and overvolting. Second of all, I would recommend the XSPC EX360 for your loop instead of the swiftech you have. It will only run you 60 dollars and it gives better performance than the one you listed. Otherwise looks good, the only reason I wouldnt watercool teh GPU is if youre planning an upgrade in the future. Sometimes waterblocks for GPUs can be a pain to resell. thumb.gif

That doesn't seem right at all. You need 6950 blocks. What is your exact model?

Edit: I check and the 1 gig model needs the 6870. That is weird..............
