BD OC Problems

Thread Starter
I'm at 4.7, stable, but hot.
also, my core temps (under similar usage) range from 41-68 (the high end are short-lasting jumps of 8-14 degrees), but my cpu temp sensor in AI Suite II Reads in the 55-5 range consistently.
under very light usage.
thats too hot, imo. my rad fans are intaking at a pretty calm volume.
my OC is stuck at 4.7 GHz, and i cant get the voltage needs to go down or the voltages i can use (in bios) to go above 1.5375V
idk what else to do, theres a lot of things to work with on this board.
i have power phase and all that at extreme, or at the highest percent
any tips?

Try lowering your voltage a tad, seems like a lot to get to 4.7. Ai suite goes by cpu temp which is fine up to 65C and core temp up 61c. You should be at 4.9 with that voltage but your temps just cannot handle up that much voltage. Use prime 95 to test and see if you are getting any sum out errors. If not lower your voltage, when you start getting those just up the voltage by .006250 tell you don't get anymore, but still allowing temps below 61c in core temp.

p.s. When you are using prime 95 test for up to 45 min to see if you get the sum out error. Start at 4.6@1.42500 and go from there. By the way what rasa kit are you using?

it wont let me bump in any smaller increments than like .01, and my max voltage before it says "CPU overvolt error" at 1.55

Try to loger your vcore, for 4.6 it shouldnt be that high imo, try to lower to 4.5ghz if necessary, sometimes to get to one point to another you will have to put a lot of voltage while before this limit there is no need to, and the difference in performance/heat/energy its not worth it.

Another thing you might want to try is to redo the thermal paste, I just did it last night and its working like a champ now, before I used to do the dot thermal paste on the center and just squizze the heatsink with the cpu and have a nice thin layer but I started seeing my CPU gets very hot but the headsink doesnt, so finally I used another method yesterday for the thermal paste and I used a credit card to spread the thermal paste manually across the CPU with a very very thin layer of paste and now it works wonders it really help before I was getting 71c on cinebench now I get 59-60c and on idle my cpu keeps on 29c-30c at 4.2GHZ (core temp), not sure why so many ppl recommend the dot method to apply thermal paste but it didnt work for me.
