I believe there's a deal where you can get the 2550K, which is a 2500K with the igp disabled and clocked 100 MHz faster, for $160 from microcenter. Do you guys have one of those nearby?

There is one in our state that is about a 40 minute drive.. hmm... 40 minutes to save about 70 bucks? Sounds good to me.
I's say it's worth it. You can probably save a lot if you price match other parts with them, people on here talk about the deals all the time. $230 is kind of a lot for a 2500K, you can beat that price for sure.

I dont think he will be overclocking it, because he doesnt really know what that does, lol. So i doubt until he learns more about it he wont be overclocking it much, if at all in the near future : /

Why are you people freaking out about the PSU? Its more than fine. Seasonic IS the best PSU maker you know.

--------------------

no comments as these are personal reference -

Case
Monitor
DVDDrive
OS

as stated, these can be picked up at a microcenter as other members have mentioned for cheap so no comment -
RAM
Mobo
CPU
--------------------

HDD: not bad, hdd prices arent the greatest these days anyway

GPU: not a big fan of the higher tier NVI cards as they are hella expensive.
""He is looking to run games at high settings, but in a casual way""
if so, may i recommend hd 6950?

PSU: pretty solid psu, but i suggest this a corsair tx650? iirc they give off more power off the rails than the seasonic you linked+its around the same price as the seasonic anyway

CPU Cooling: great perf for the money.

IMHO, with 1400 - should include a SSD(size depends on you) for sure.
crucial m4 // samsung 830 // plextor m3 <== good purchases.
