Okay guys final build, I was thinking about waiting for IB but it's too long of a wait.

Case: Silverstone Milo ML03B ($64.20)
CPU: Intel i3-2105 ($139.99)
CPU Cooler: Scythe Shuriken REV.B 3 ($34.99)
Case Fans: Fractal Design Silent Series 80MM 16.0CFA/11DBa ($15.98)
Mobo: MSI H61MA-E35 ($79.99)
RAM: G.SKILL Eco Series 4GB ($45.96)
PSU: Corsair Builder Series 430W ($43.51)
Boot Drive: OCZ Vertex 2 240GB (Already own)
Storage Drive: Western Digital 2TB Green (Already own)
OS: Windows 7 Home Edition (Already own)

Total with tax: Total: $479.70

I'm going to run it without an optical drive. As for the input device I'll be buying it locally.

do you have any old parts laying around? CPU/MOBO/ATI 54XX GPU? maybe buy a cheap used combo from the market place. then you can hold out for IB. we just got some IB samples at work so it wont be too long!! 3.7GHZ stock clocks... Might see some higher, but I only see the Xeon side.

*All prices are in Canadian.
Any input on the parts would be welcomed.
Now for my questions:
1. Will the Intel HD 2000 be able to handle playing 1080p files?
2. What exact parts would I need to be able to turn on my HTPC with a Logitech Harmony remote?
3. Is there anyway to lower the cost without sacrificing too much performance?
4. Will my system be cool and quiet?
Thanks for all your help!
it can go way below 640$ wink.gif
i would prefer a mini ITX build for that budget HTPC
something like
Case:
LIAN LI PC-Q08B 110$
dont under estimate it it can fit a GTX 590 in it eek.gif
CPU:core i3 2100 100$

CPU Cooler:CORSAIR H60 70$

Mobo:GIGABYTE GA-H61N-USB3 85$

RAM: SAMSUNG 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin
DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 48$

PSU: Corsair Builder Series 430W 50$

Boot Drive: OCZ Vertex 2 240GB (Already own)

Storage Drive: Western Digital 2TB Green (Already own)

OS: Windows 7 Home Edition (Already own)

Total 463$ CAD

and if you want gpu in there then i would say go with a H40 or H50 and reduce the cost and go for a 6450 40$ GPU
that with crank up the total to 503$ CAD but you will get optimum performance thumb.gif
