There are a few things I dislike about the Steelseries 6GV2 such as the Ctrl key feels like it should be a little bigger or more to the right because it is slightly difficult to hit for me, not that bad but I just have to retrain my hand to reach for the Ctrl key in a different spot. I would prefer flatter keys, ones that aren't as tall since I have been using flat keyboards for as long as I have been gaming. This last one is just personal preference but I wish it didn't have the Num pad on the right side, that is the one thing I loved about my Sidewinder, I could just remove it and make the keyboard smaller and more bare bones, or since it was magnetic and could be switched to either side of the keyboard.

However the pros of this keyboard make up for all the cons plus some, faster typing time (once I got use to it), split second faster on my movements in games and now I always seem to have a quicker draw in games. Having the ability to now crouch, move forward AND reload now without my keyboard ghosting and making it so I am unable to reload. Plus never having to worry about accidentally hitting my windows key in the middle of a game is a massive plus.

Over all I love this keyboard and plan on buying another steelseries once this one dies, however I would bet money that I have a LONG time judging by how long all mechanical keyboards last.

LOL. Didnt say that. But SteelSeries are famous for making GAMING gear. All others keyboards that are supposedly mechanical, are not made specifically for gaming. Just for general use. Yet, the thread says "best gaming keyboard".

I show respect towards brands like Das and Filco smile.gif

Steelseries keyboards aren't designed specifically for gaming, they're marketed for gaming; learn the difference.

Sorry huge difference... and funny thing, the cm storm quick fire rapid is being advertised as a gaming keyboard, if you say it is.. You really know nothing.. as it's the same thing as the filco tkl. the steelseries mech's really aren't any better for gaming then DAS or a Filco.
I want you to list why a steelseries is a better gaming board then the others.

Well, maybe because they are specialized in making GAMING gear since their genesis really. Im not that familiar with DAS and Filco though. So cant compare.

If a keyboard made by SteelSeries is marketed as a gaming keyboard, why wouldnt I believe it? SteelSeries is a gaming gear company. DAS and Filco arent AFAIK. Maybe Im wrong, Im probably wrong. I do know nothing. And as I said, I have respect for those two brands, and cant see why I shouldnt buy a DAS or Filco keyboard:)

and is it true that 6Vg2 is the only gaming mechanical keyboard that uses Blacks?

there's a few:

Thermaltake Meka G1, Meka G, Meka (smaller), CM quickfire has a black switches version (even smaller - no numpad), mionix zibal (green backlit), Steelseries 7G (wouldn't recommend, more expensive than 6gv2 and has USB 1.0 ports). I'd recommend the the G1, Meka and quickfire, haven't tried the zibal but it looks pretty good too.

I hope I haven't left any out but the rest of the mechanical keyboards with black switches aren't marketed as gaming even though some use silly terms like "Gaming-grade lifetime", the difference being usually the gaming ones like I mentioned above have a way of disabling the left windows key (whether to turn it off or just missing/replaced with another key).
