4.2Ghz just not stable - Page 2

my specs in the bios are as follows:

cpu ratio - 19.0

cpu bus frequency - 212

DRAM Frequency - 1413

cpu/nb frequency - 2544

HT Link speed - 2544

voltage - 1.5

I jumped the nb up a step and it was at 2756, it wouldn't even boot rolleyes.gif

I think I'm at the ceiling for my processor and mobo, but it runs good so I'm not too worried

When you up the NB you also gotta increase the CPU/NB volts to stabilize.. When I had my 965 it required 1.55v @ 4.2GHZ, and 1.325v @ about 2600 for the NB

Okay so far this is what I've come up with. At 1.475v you CAN get a stable 4.0Ghz+ OC but to get a stable 4.1Ghz+ OC you have to take it up to 1.5v ?! I know it's high volts but my 965 BE is a tough S.O.B. and ran prime95 @ 4.14Ghz for 4+hrs and I was able to maintain a temp. of 34c-42c the entire time! This has been a fun OC I would recommend a 965 BE to anyone. I'll post my CPU-Z validation soon and give all the bios configurations I used.

That sounds about right, and to get to 4.2 you will need about 1.55v, why not just do that since it looks like you have some headroom
