For 1080p yea, however, with the display prices trending still slowly downwards Eyefinity and Surround setups will probably get slowly more common. The 4k display prices - if they will be released soon enough - will remain ofc unreasonably high most likely for the foreseeable future.
In my experience 1 gig of RAM is ok up to approx 6 megapixels (three 1080p screens) without AA. At 10 megapixels (5x 1080p screens) 1 gig of vRAM is blatantly inadegaute even with AA off.
So 2x to 4x AA on 1080p will be quite fine. Now if one starts going higher in combination with high resolution texture packs it's in principle possible to encounter problems with even 1,5 gig of vRAM, but TBH unless one is sitting 15 cm from his 1080p screen I highly doubt that people can tell the difference between say 4x and 8x AA without looking it up in the settings so this is - in my opinion - a pseudoproblem for the people who want to "max all sliders" regardless if these do anything noticeable or not.
