Would microsoft and sony ever create one console?

Hi Guys,

I have an xbox, ps3 and gaming pc now............and the platform wars start to feel silly really. Ps3 and xbox 360 are roughly the same in power............it's just they each get their nice exclusives. I wonder if sony and microsoft would ever just merge console divisions and make one console? It would be way better for us gamers, getting to play Uncharted and Gears of War on the same system.

What do you guys think? Yay or nay, or would this make them slack off if nintendo was the only competition? I imagine it would make developers lives easier.

And it wouldn't be a monopoly, you'd still have alternative platforms for gaming: pc's, nintendo, mobile devices, tablets

No. That's like saying IOS and Android will combine. Which I don't see or even Intel or AMD making a processor together do you see that happening? No.

They will.
The next Xbox basically HAS to have blu-ray support, which is a Sony patent. Hence they will need to co-operate with Sony in order to support the format.

Yeah... I doubt that'll ever happen but that doesn't really matter. In the end of the day, it all depends on the game developers. A console is merely there to provide a platform for those guys to do their magic. So I seriously don't think that it even matters whether the console makers merge or not. The games will keep coming anyway...

Yeah, microsoft and sony don't think about that. So no, you can't play your ps3 and xbox games on single device, you might be able to in the future on your pc if we have powerful enough hardware and emulation software.
