Edit: Seeing your panel, seems like your problem was input lag due to VSync instead of lack of smoothness.

Good catch. I didn't consider input lag from v-sync.

Yes, there are plenty of 120Hz monitors out there. You don't have to play in 3D to run at 120Hz either. The monitor in my sig is one of them. I paid about $450 for it, but now it's down in the ~$250 range.

No complaints from me except for a little bit of backlight bleeding. But it's only noticeable if I really look for it on really dark games (or a really dark desktop background). I've yet to find a perfect LCD monitor. They all have pros and cons. I can live with this one. Everything else is top-notch on it imo.

It depends on the game. FPS games are the most noticeable and only for some people it seems. I can tell a difference big time when looking around. It looks choppy when less than 50-60 fps, but smooth as silk at 120 fps.

its not the fps you notices its the micro studdering and spikes form usage thats why if you lock your frame rate the gpus dont work as hard and use all there resources.. meaning the spikes dont affect your fps as much. some people can see more some less... its different for every person. my buddy can see the diffrence in 90 and 100 fps but for me its all teh same...

edit: some points here
edit2: also found this cool post you can try here

Good find. It reinforces what I already stated. +1.

When there are drastic changes to all of the pixels on the entire screen in a short amount of time, that's when fps rates are the most noticeable. Like if you're looking around real fast while in a first person point of view. Things look really choppy at low frame rates but smooth out as the frame rate increases.

I probably overstated myself by saying it looks as smooth as silk at 120 fps. But there is definitely a noticeable difference between 60 and 120 fps while looking around (if you can't see the difference between 30 and 60 while looking around I'd suggest glasses).

Human cant detect past 60 hertz.so it is very likly the culprit. is a deep program like .net or other stuff .i have been using .net 4 since it was avail and ms found bug becausr someones systeme reported bugs. i thot these went straight to trash but it looks like they are reverse engineering bugs now a day since the two fix everything is way smoother.on average tho i recommand a clean install and dont use tweak ms doesnt speak of.if they dont mention a server tweak for w7 ods are you would lose.if you cant get info on w7 about an xp tweak dont apply it.ask on channel q&a show with gov maraj these guy eat technology for breakfast.

I don't like comments that state that the human anatomy can't do x.

We, as mankind, don't know quite a lot of the human anatomy. There are people in this very thread who have stated they can clearly see the differences in double digit and triple digit frame rates.

Unless you have scientific studies and have peer reviewed it with other scientists in the world, said statements are null. In my opinion, anyway.

/end random rant of the day.

The games then selves are more fluid rather than the display so you'll feel the difference by maybe not see it as much.

some games especially fps and racing games like F1 2011, there is a huge difference in movement smoothness between 60fps and 100fps.

With rpg games, i dont notice a difference between 40fps and 100fps. Dragon Age II is a good example
