Then there's the used market, which usually brings prices down much faster than retail.
Skyrim was 75% off a month after it released. Rage was discounted much quicker on Steam than in stores. Not only that but when PC games get discounted they go on sale for far less than 30-40$. No decent game on console ever goes down to 20$ until at least a year.
Regards to the used market, well I don't see that lasting much longer. The corporations are making sure that happens. EA and BF3 for PS3 or 360 is a good example of that with the game being tied to your account.

Regardless, I get plenty of console games for $20-$30 used, so there is no way that all games were $30 more than what I pay for console. Given the worst-case scenario the PC still cost me more. Does that make my PC less valuable? Definitely not, I use my PC for business and a lot of other things than just gaming. But it does make the PC a more expensive gaming platform for me at least. If you spend your money right on PC you may be able to get it to cost less than a console, I'm just saying that the article itself is crap, they made it sound like PC gaming was always cheaper, hands down, when that is probably not the case for the average consumer.
I still don't agree with you that PC gaming is more expensive considering my experience with my Xbox 360's since launch. Maybe it hasn't always been that way, but things are definitely changing now days.
Maybe I've forgotten how much it cost me for my whole PC gaming setup but every time I go to buy a game for Xbox or PS3 I cringe at the price. The longer I game on PC, the stronger that feeling gets.
