Until the OP elaborates, even with a 9800 GTX+ it's still possible he is running one of these units.
Yeah, had some lovely experiences with Fuhjyyu myself smile.gif

One other thing to factor is wear. The closer you are to the max output of your psu, the faster it will degrade. I have some power supplies around here that are at least 8 years old and still work great.

Also a high quality surge protector helps a lot! Get one by APC.

Yes.. Would work just fine!

You can overclock as well. No problems at all. A friend of mine had a i7 920@ 4.2Ghz and a GTX480 at stock clocks on a corsair VX450. For about a year. I think PSU power is a bit overrated. I don't know what cpu you had before, but it probably consumed more power than this one tongue.gif

So you're good to go.

Oh, and about the new psu you want to get. Don't get the Corsair. It's based on CWT's DSG platform!

Try to look for a Seasonic X-560/660. They're based on seasonic's platform. And that's very good. Seasonic and Delta are the best OEMs out there.

They're more than you need. Any of them can power any single-gpu+ most badass cpu out now.

P.S: Sorry for my bad english.. biggrin.gif

Stop posting this, it's false... power supplies don't degrade, capacitors(low quality ones) do, and they don't degrade with load but with temperature... ie. a high efficiency unit with quality caps and a proper fan profile will suffer no cap degradation running at 100% load for extended periods of time..

Thanks for the tip!

I'll guess i can try to run my system with my old PSU as far as possible. I do want to monitor how many watts my system is using so that i can tell you the results, what is the best way to find out the Watt it's using?

Once again, when you get home you will need to check the model of your PSU. If it is a Truepower/Smartpower series (1.0 or 2.0), you should be wary and reconsider.

I find it ridiculous that people are chiming in with their Corsair 450W experiences when some of Antec's earlier units are almost as bad as a modern-day Apevia, Raidmax or Diablotek (if one were to judge a PSU by the quality of its weakest links, in this case the Antec's Fuhjyyu caps).
