This is what I do biggrin.gif I play GTA IV on my PC though my TV using a PS3 controller tongue.gif It makes it feel like a proper console game except the graphics are a lot better and I don't get anywhere near as much lag as I do on the PS3 version. Well I get 5-10FPS for the first few mins but after that I get 35-45FPS with these settings

338

which is 5-15FPS more than console

This is the most unintelligent post I've ever read. Here let me sum it up for you
A TG should always strive to get the most out of every game for their OWN enjoyment, be it graphics, gameplay, community support creativity or even mindless mayhem.
Quote:
Well let's first define what a true gamer is. A true gamer won't qualify a game just for it's graphics. In fact, graphics is what a true gamer will judge at last. A TG will PLAY the game, not see how awesome the textures are, or how blurry they are. A TG will judge the story of the game, the gameplay of it, how varied and innovative it is and lastly how gorgeous it looks. But this last aspect will be defined by "unacceptable" "acceptable" "total awesome". Nowadays graphics are acceptable so for a true gamer the unacceptable word isn't on his dictionary. So in terms of grphics, a PC and a console it's going to be the same for a TG.
So you are saying all PC games dont have ingenious, and impressive storylines. Lets see how about witcher 2? I think that was done quite well. OH portal? well there you go great gameplay. How about the indie games we all so enjoy here in the PC community have you taken a look at Bastion? Its pretty much a top down 3d hack and slash but its pretty darn amazing. There we go we just debunked this whole paragraph.
Quote:
Games. A true gamer will like to be able to play the majority of the best rated games. And also he would like to play a wide variety of games, not only strategy or rpg games. A TG is not limited to multiplayer experiences. If we consider all this, a console (from this generation) has more varied games than a PC (on this generation). If we consider the amount of games the PC has from it's existence, we have to consider all the consoles that appeared since that existence with all the games available for them too. And if we do the maths, the console will always win, since consoles appeared before PCs. And yeha, a TG will own the most important consoles.
OK here we are as you said true gamers enjoy a vast variety of games, ok sure. But where do you see variety in consoles? You got the rpgs, and the fps. Where are the rts? Where are the classic arcade style games like orcs must die? Darn where is your console games to compete with that? Oh right non existent.
Quote:
Money: As a TG will need to buy a lot of games, he will have to spend the less money possible on the device that's going to run the games. Consoles are cheaper by far than a gaming PC. So a TG will always prefer a console over a PC for it's price.
Sure hardware for pcs expensive. But why do peopel buy it? Well here let me tell you. Like I said True Gamers should be able to get the most out of their games, with latest hardware you are able to play a lag free game with impressive visuals. Oh wait not everything is about visuals you say? Well tell me would you play Halo if it was pixelated and lagging? I dont think so. Have you ever seen steam sales or other digital distributers before? What we pay in hardware is already saved up during steam sales. Console gamers always get games at full price pc gamers will be able to grab games for as little as a dollar each.
Quote:
That's it. In terms of MP, for me playing online on PC and playing online on a console is the exact same experience. Maybe on xbox live you get more options, but overall it's the same.
Oh my the last paragraph already here let me make this simple. You just contradicted yourself. How? Lets see you talk about money and you talk about how everything is not limited to multiplayer. And now you are comparing multiplayer between the two platforms. Xbox live requires monthly/ yearly substription onto of your internet. And of course multiplayer of the an unmodded game is the same across platforms. Where in the world have you ever heard a dev go " oh im gonan realease the pc multplayer with just 2 teams 3 maps and capture the flag. But for consoles IM gonna release all the maps every single race available in the game and 15 different game modes hurrr duurr." RIght that never happens.
Quote:
So what do you think?
There is no "What do we think" You have already assumed your superiority for console gaming. And any reason we have given has already been labelled as dissagreable and childish.

Here let me suggest you something:
Why dont you do some research before you go all doom and gloom and say console is better then pc,there is no facts in here at all. Youve obviously never gone into pc gaming to make all these asuumptions.

First of all, what gives you the right to decide what qualifies someone as a "true gamer"
And even if you do get to decide that, everything you say doesn't make sense....

So what you're saying is a true gamer doesn't care if he has to struggle to see clearly? And he would rather play the same game with worse graphics?

The story will be the same on both a console and PC, what does that have to do with it? Gameplay will for the most part be the same too, except you get to use whatever kind of controller you want, a mouse/keyboard is much more comfortable in a lot of people's opinions, but they can still use a controller if they want. And there are games like BF3, for example, where the maps are bigger and more people can play together on the PC. And there's load times, shouldn't a true gamer want to get into the game faster?

There are a TON of games that aren't available on console, there are only a few that are console exclusive. And what does the variety have to do with it? 1. Not everyone likes the same genres, it has nothing to do with being on pc or being on console, and 2. There is more variety on PC.

Same as above, PC has a LOT more games than console. I don't understand how you could think the opposite.

Assuming you have a PC anyways, since pretty much everyone these days does, and you are on a forum for overclocking a PC.. upgrading your graphics card to something that can play games on lowest settings (since you say a true gamer doesn't care about graphics anyways) will be a LOT cheaper than a console. Or even one that can play on higher settings is cheaper, a GTX 460 or HD6850 is about the same price as an xbox 360 and they can play BF3(one of the most demanding games atm) on high.
Plus there's the cost of xbox live.

If it's the same then how is console better? doh.gif
Furthermore, it is not always the same, there are things like my example of, BF3 limits you to 24 players and smaller maps on console.

Lastly I say a true gamer is someone who enjoys playing games and plays them however and on whatever s/he wants.

true gamer... really?

Since we are making definitions, I want a shot too:

- A "true gamer" games in whatever he likes and don't give a rat's ass about half-baked, empty theories.

- A true games is ahuman being, an individual, and will not conform to a formula of what he must like or not. A RTS fan is as much of a gamer as a RPG fan, or spmeone who plays it all.

A true gamer.... games. That's the only universal definition I'm willing to agree.

See where I'm going?

No, really, this post is a flamebait.

I prefer to game on PC and play multiplayer games on a PC because I got tired of hearing how many 12 year olds had sex with my mom the previous night.

Why we have to use "true"? You can call people a "gamer" it simply means she / he do love playing games no matter how often or frequent or what type. Even for playing a mobile device, you can call them gamer. There is no truer than gamer, but there is "Hardcore" means those one that play to win match and competitions at an event.

Anyways, yaddee yaddee.

I can't recall what year I started to play snake games on a PC with green black screen + 5" floppy drive... I was excited.

A True Gamer to me is a person that plays anything and still enjoys it over a different activity. For example people can like different types of game but they dont mind play other less favorite types of games.
