Emulating SOTC/MGS/ICO? I mean i have a 590, i7, 4gb of ram (like a 2000U$D PC here in Argentina) and I can't even run those games on PCSX2 on stable 30 fps ...

right, because you spend 300 bucks on a console and never buy hardware for 10 years. That makes the cost of a console 30 bucks a year. The only money you spend is on games.

You buy a PC (budget gaming build) for 600 bucks. Then you buy another GPU for 150. Then you buy more RAM for 60. Then you buy a new platform in 3 years for 400 bucks. Plus the cost of games (which are relatively close to the cost of console games). Plus the PC takes more electricity to power it than a console. How in the world does a PC cost LESS money than a console over time...?

But the emulation of the majority of PS2 games (including them) sucks dude! Come on, don't be cheeky...

Who needs stable FPS? So long as it's playable, it should count. After all, there are a ton of console games that drop under 30 FPS all the time.

Not really. I have a friend who plays a bunch of PS2 games absolutely fine on a 955 BE at stock and a GTX 460. Maybe it's your PC? You should check tha

Guys if you're going to throw me the emulation thing because you can't name me 10 godamned PC exclusives that can compete with that list I've thrown, then you're giving me the right. Period.

Assuming you buy 3 games or more/month

PC
Initial cost (with monitor and everything) £750 (my sig rig)
Game cost £20 (average)*3 = £60*12 = £720
Controller (assuming you already have a PS3/360) £0

£1470/year

Console (Xbox 360)
Initial cost £120
Game cost £40 (average)*3 = £120 *12 = £1440
Xbox Live £30/year

£1630/year

Then when it comes to selling thing, while you can't sell the PC games (assuming they were all bought on Steam) you can sell the hardware for a lot more. Used 360 in good condition = £70 (average) Used gaming PC (similar to my sig rig) in good condition £600.

I didn't include an internet connection because that would be the exactly the same for both and in case you are wondering, the monitor listed in my sig rig is a TV which I included in the initial cost. If you are going to add the price of the TV into the initial cost for console then it's another £300

Some people state playing on a console, while relaxing on a sofa is more comfortable than playing on a PC while being sit down on a chair and some others may say that PC games have doors opened for the modding community. But the question is, which platform is better for a "true" gamer?
Well let's first define what a true gamer is. A true gamer won't qualify a game just for it's graphics. In fact, graphics is what a true gamer will judge at last. A TG will PLAY the game, not see how awesome the textures are, or how blurry they are. A TG will judge the story of the game, the gameplay of it, how varied and innovative it is and lastly how gorgeous it looks. But this last aspect will be defined by "unacceptable" "acceptable" "total awesome". Nowadays graphics are acceptable so for a true gamer the unacceptable word isn't on his dictionary. So in terms of grphics, a PC and a console it's going to be the same for a TG.
Games. A true gamer will like to be able to play the majority of the best rated games. And also he would like to play a wide variety of games, not only strategy or rpg games. A TG is not limited to multiplayer experiences. If we consider all this, a console (from this generation) has more varied games than a PC (on this generation). If we consider the amount of games the PC has from it's existence, we have to consider all the consoles that appeared since that existence with all the games available for them too. And if we do the maths, the console will always win, since consoles appeared before PCs. And yeha, a TG will own the most important consoles.
Money: As a TG will need to buy a lot of games, he will have to spend the less money possible on the device that's going to run the games. Consoles are cheaper by far than a gaming PC. So a TG will always prefer a console over a PC for it's price.
That's it. In terms of MP, for me playing online on PC and playing online on a console is the exact same experience. Maybe on xbox live you get more options, but overall it's the same.
So what do you think?

Please do go play on your Console instead of a PC....
You will be missed thumb.gif
