Most of the 3rd party grips do look and feel the same, or nearly the same as the legit Canon grips. You can save a lot of money too.

I went with the Canon grip as I personally do not trust 3rd party equipment when it comes to powering the camera. I know many people have had great luck with them, but I'd rather pay more for the real deal when it comes to batteries and grips.

From what I've heard the molds for most grips are the same.

So the look and feel they will be the same.

I've used several different aftermarket grips and have had no problems.

Too many horror stories about poor electronics in third-party grips. I've used the genuine Canon grips for all of my EOS and FD bodies in the past and never had a single issue, save for the batteries corroding in my AE-1 winder, but that's my own damn fault.

The 7D's back LCD already has a glass protector on it.

i have a zeikos grip for my 7D im ok with it but would much rather have the legit grip that is made of the same material as the 7D rather than plastic. if you have the money buy the canon grip.

With my budget i couldn't afford the canon grip. I figured a cheap one is better than nothing.
My purchase from Ebay for my 100D (rebel xs) did not work and i had to return it for a refund, so i can't tell you much about it except for this one review i remember reading and the feel of it from my own limited experience.

The review stated that the shutter button was not as precise or accurate as the canon button. He said that every once in a while when half pressing the shutter button he would shoot a photo on accident, but that it was not that common of an occurrence to have to worry about it.

I could feel that the after market grip was a little less quality than my camera its self, but it didn't feel chincy like a lot of Chinese products and felt like it would last for a long time.
I do plan on trying another after market grip soon, as i didn't find any posts about people hating the grip or getting defective ones.

i just got a zeikos grip for my 7D got to use it for the first time last night and let me say I am not impressed. It feels great but for some resin every time I hit the shutter button it would focus and thats it. I had to mash the button a few times before it would take a picture. I will be sending it back today or tomorrow and buying the canon grip.
