More than double the performance. A huge difference.

Well I will tell you the heat from one of those cards will be ridiculous let alone the noise unless you water cool. Two cards!? you could just turn your heat off and provide the heating for your entire house, but if you can keep em cool and stable it will be a decent increase over two 550's. You have to ask yourself do you really NEED the extra "horse power" if not stick with you cool quiet 550's just my 2cents.gif

2 points.

1: GTX 550 TI~ 5770

434

2: GTX 480 is OVER double the performance of a 5770

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/309?vs=296

Multiply those results by 2 1.7. A Single 480 would beat 2 GTX 550 TIs... GTX 480 SLI would beat 2 550s so hard it's not even funny.

EDIT: Ninja'd many times over.

EDIT: Ninja'd many times over.

Keeping in mind that SLI doesn't double performance. In any case, SLI'd 480's will obliterate 550ti's as stated before.

for 400 dollars wait for kepler if they were less than 400 id say go for it. I don't like noisy hot computers so I'm against it.

If you have a decent case, you could always go for 2 of these if you can't stand the noise.
