Games you wish you hadn't bought - Page 14

Borderlands: This is probably a fun coop game, unfortunately, all my friends bought it on Xbox. In single-player, I got burned out about half way through the story.
Rogue Squadron: I was expecting another TIE Fighter. If I had had internet at the time, I should have read some reviews.
Age of Conan: It was a great game, but a horrible piece of software. The first month of patches added more bugs that they fixed.
Left 4 Dead: This suffers from the same problem as UT2003. It's not a bad game, but the next year's version blew it out of the water.
DarkStar One: Freelancer is one of my favorite games ever. DS1 takes that formula and simplifies it to the point where all the excitement is gone.
Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds: It's not just based on the AOEII engine, they took the same basic units and structures and put new skins on them.
Star Wars: Battlefront 2: The key to the Battlefield games is that every role is fun. Being a Stormtrooper or droid is not fun, everyone wants to be a Jedi or walker pilot.
Edit: There are plenty of threads were people rant about games they hate, my intent here was to get a list of games that just weren't your cup of tea.

I disagree, L4D was awesome imho, more than the second one. I played that game for at least 2 years, all the way till 2010 I think..I was sooo good at it. Dont think I have played it in a year.
Dont get me wrong, I liked L4D 2 aswell, it was a good sequel and had some great campaigns that gave me the high heart beats when I played them for the first time,(even tho I had the Australian Crappy version thanks to some crappy christian lobbyists who censored the blood and body disappearing, but still it) ... like the storm level where vergill drops you to collect the gas cans and half way back you see the raging storm starting and it gets worse, what a experience. smile.gif

I would soo buy L4D 3, if it weren't for those sissy's who ran some sissy boycott and ruined it for us all.

The game I regretted the most last year was

NFS: THE RUN. (What a bunch of crap)

The only game I wish I hadn't bought was Vampire the masquerades. Oh man I hated that game.

Call of Duty: World at War felt like an expansion pack, and the campaign felt like a revamp of COD2
Crash Time 3 Bought this at a christmas sale on Steam, I expected something like Burnout with the carnage gameplay. It wasn't.
Just Cause This game was so bugged when I played it that it was unplayable at last.
King Arthur: The roleplaying wargame Here I learned that I am not a hardcore RTS fan.
Prey Fun for the first few hours, didn't get much further after that.

I enjoyed L4D as well, played it with a couple of friends for a few months, then we went on to Killing Floor.

It just does not seem like anyone took time to invest into writing, dialogue, textures, movement, and physics.

Leashing was an interesting concept, but the rest feels forced. I do not care for it at all.

I still can't believe I gave it three hours of my life.

I only gave it about 30 minutes. I gave Duke Nukem Forever more playtime, lol.

Tropico 3 always liked sim games... guess it's only SimCity as this game was fun for a while... got burnt out

RollerCoaster Tycoon got this "free" with a gift card and since I always liked Sim ThemePark thought this would be the same, but the game is old enough that the algorithm makes it hard to build coaster (or maybe I'm just dumb) and it requires you to design so much... and put so much time into it that it bored me just getting through the tutorials

Magicka hella fun, just buggy and a bit laggy... and none of my friends bought it

Crysis 2 first game I bought since building this rig, thought it'd be a good way to "test" it... sure it made things crash if my OC was unstable, but it was a CHORE to play it... I'm not a fan of single player games and storylines... BFBC2 turned out to be a better stress test as I at least had fun
