Did you like the original Modern Warfare, and are you talking about SP campaigns or multiplayer?

I think I didn't like it because it was released after Modern Warfare, which I loved. It was really painful to go back to the World War II era again -- I mean, we've already played that, what, 4-5 times over now?

I didn't like the campaign or multiplayer. It was just downright disappointing to me.

Certainly, it's not much compared to the shooters of old (being very linear and all), but I thought it was a pretty rewarding experience. I especially liked the atmosphere in the Chernobyl mission.
I see you like S.T.A.L.K.E.R, so I guess your attitude towards Modern Warfare is understandable. I like them both, but technical issues have stopped me playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Well I also like certain linear and shorter FPS games. Newer Call of Duty games just don't cut it for me. For a war game it plays and sounds too much like an arcade game, and the poor variety in the campaign didn't keep me interested. Call of Duty 2 was good. World at War was so bad that I couldn't even finish it.

Crysis 2.

I don't often regret video game purchases, they're crappy FPS games that place graphics over unique locales or compelling storylines.

I guess it isn't that bad, but I was expecting more enemy diversity, and somewhere that wasn't post-apocalyptic New York as the setting mad.gif

I kind of see what you mean... Only now it's the modern war theme that is overused and painful. And I'm wishing for more WWII games to break the monotony. tongue.gif

Personally, I've always liked the atmosphere of WWII. I find the older weapons and vehicles much more interesting, and prefer the setting (only the European Theatre though).

The SP element of WaW was a step down from Modern Warfare in terms of story, dialogue, voice acting and score (the whole soundtrack was rather absurd, apart from the SP menu track - quite a gem once it gets underway). But I reckon they're about equal when it comes to MP play. In fact, WaW possibly has a better map selection. For all the hype over Modern Warfare MP, many of the maps are actually very poor. I used to play a lot, and it got to the stage where I realised that 70% of my play time was spent grinding through the map rotation, waiting for one that was actually enjoyable and not just a spamfest/campfest by design.

I agree, I always loved the WW2 theme for the same reasons, personally I liked W@W better just because I could play through the story with a friend.

What, really? I love Minecraft, I've dumped countless hours into it. Playing with friends is especially fun.
