7970 Three S27A950D at 120hz / Eyefinity Cable Questions - Page 2
Gear mentioned in this thread:

1. Do not overclock anything (CPU, RAM and GPU). Load BIOS Optimized Defaults.
2. Try different Catalyst for 7900.
3. There's no MiniDP-to-DVI-Dual-Link -Active-Adapter that supports 120Hz for AMD card.
S27A950D, DVI --> DVI --> 7970
S27A950D, DP --> DP-MiniDP Cable --> 7970
S27A950D, DP --> DP-MiniDP Cable --> 7970
1.) Tried
2.) Tried even clean format
3.) Read my post
I have all combinations excluding a powered dual linkSame machine as I ran eyefinity on for months, never had an issue
its the cable/dongle setup, not the system, please re read my post
What else to say for someone deemed fail to read OP other than good lucks?

That's what I said good lucks ![]()
Doubt the issue is the dual link active adapter. It doesn't even work in 2D 120Hz Eyefinity ![]()

Thats the point
It has to be cable because it all worked fine before, only change is montiors and cables1.) Just reset my overclock again, precise same behavior, eyefinity desktop fine but the second I launch a game BSOD 116 with the ati sys file error
2.) Going to retry previous 1/25 Cats and previous Caps, tried previous driver but not caps
3.) Thats the cable setup right now, I even have 10 Ft direct MiniDP to DP cables, I have normal ones, behavior is the same. This is the same error I saw when I wasnt using an active adapter previously with my U2410s.
Remember Im moving off three U2410s, that eyefinity worked on fine, same system nothing changed (Four 7970s), cables and monitors changed nothing else.

1. Reset CMOS, load BIOS Optimized Defaults.
2. Run Memtest to scan for faulty RAM.
3. Trouble shooting; install only 1 (one) 7970.
4. Start with clean OS (new install).
5. Reinstall the games to try because any customization will not be reset to take new configuration.
6. Up to you if you want to heed, just trying to help here ![]()

$ 1 million hardware won't impress me
1.) Just did this, second time testing
2.) Actually replaced with a second kit
3.) Tried even have four more that I tested, behavior was the same on eight in total
4.) Did
5.) Steam downloads, all fresh, tried 16 seperate games behavior the same each time
6.) Understood, but your ignoring the fact that same system, same hardware jsut different monitors and cables, never had an issue before, seems more like you want to blame my OC and Hardware, why did the old monitors and cables work, but these wont, I can plug those back in and I play crysis warhead for three hours no problem, under new montiors and cables wouldnt even launch, isntant bsod.
http://steamcommunity.com/id/techanalyst <-- Thats me
I literally buy everything new as it comes out, so my question comes down to WHY a cable and monitor change breaks, your ignoring that, if I plug old monitors in with old cable setup it works fine, so not sure how memory, cpu and everything else comes into play unless somehow the CPU and Memory affect cables and monitors, last I checked they didnt.Edited by TechAnalyst - 2/22/12 at 5:12am

Does it matter who you are? The fact is, unable to make 3 Eyefinity @120Hz to work ![]()
3960X + 4x 7970s + 1x 1200W PSU on Alienware motherboard ![]()
You are ignoring the fact, from 60Hz to 120Hz double the amount of data. You are an IT engineer and what does that tell you
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Uninstall all tweaking applications such as Afterburner, Trixx etc if you have it in the system. Select "no" when prompted to keep settings.
- Uninstall Catalyst. Select "Express Uninstall".

The motherboard is the Asus Rampage IV Extreme, I bought an alienware just to get the case then gutted it then put all my own gear in. There are TWO AX1200s not one
So I say to you sir, reading is a valuable skill, also LISTENING to people also comes in handySolved the issue, it was the latest CAP, uninstalled and ran Alien vs Predator, over 300FPS with everything on in eyefinity

You wanted to blame hardware instantly, ignoring all other facts, I am an Engineer, I work with Facts, you provided nothing but steps that I could find anywhere online that are 100% unrelated to the issues I mentioned
