Samsung SA950 or an Asus VG278H?

Hello OCN members,

Once again I ask you for opinions, this time regarding monitors.

Lately I have been looking for a new 27 inch monitor, that being a 120 hertz,
My only real requirements are that the monitor is 120hertz, low response, 27 inch and that it has good colors.

So, after a lot research I came up with 2 monitors:
The Samsung SA950
The Asus VG278H

As far as I found out the Samsung has a way better color reproduction than the Asus has, but then again the Samsung lacks a few options for me which the Asus has.

SA950
Pros:
Good color reproduction
Low input lag
Good response

Cons:
Only has a Tilt function <- this is a really heavy con i.m.o.
Not so sure about the stand, it seems kind of wobbly
Does not support Nvidia 3D

VG278H
Pros:
Height adjust <- really, REALLY missing on the samsung
Does support Nvidia 3D
Also good response / low input lag

Cons:
As far as I found out the color isn't that great, especially compared to the SA950
It's cheaper

The Asus definitely has less cons, but the cons it has are important for what I seek in my new monitor.
It's a shame that the SA950 can't really run Nvidia 3D, but I assume I won't be able to use it much if it worked anyway, as I have yet to experience 3D that doesn't give me a headache rolleyes.gif

And to add another question to this, the Samsung CAN officially support Nvidia 3D if I were to buy a Nvidia 3D vision kit?

I would really appreciate your opinions or experiences with either of these monitors!

Thanks in advance!

Actually 27" Samsung 750D for $399 at tigerdirect (when it's back in stock) is the best option...it has a better stand also than the 950D..tho still can't tilt much. The Samsung is a better quality panel imho compared to the Asus.

However, if you really want to use 3D function with NVIDIA gfx card than maybe the Asus or a BenQ XL2420 is better...samsung is more ATI friendly. BenQ has probably the best tilting/height adjustment features out of any 120hz monitor...but only comes in 24".

Overall...I would still go with the 27" 750D for $399...you can probably find a way to setup your monitor where the tilting/height feature isn't needed as much....
