Will EK-FC7970 waterblock fit GV-R797OC-3GD? (Gigabyte 7970 OC)

I've got a GV-R797OC-3GD coming in soon, but I'm wondering if that was smart if I want to go all water cooling on that card.
I know the Gigabyte 7970 OC (not the standard version) has better components and an 'Ultra Durable' PCB (which I thought was just some extra thick copper layer), but what I can't figure out is if the layout and all is still reference and as such if I can mount the EK-FC7970 waterblock that is suited for reference boards only.

Does anyone have this card with any other cooling solution than the standard Windforce cooler?

EK have replied quicker than usual and they have confirmed (visually) that it should fit!

Hmm... The plot thickens...

Apparently there are/will be two versions. One earlier and one later version. The later version would have a different layout and a blue PCB, as opposed to the black PCB of the earlier version...

So in fact, I still know nothing...

How did this turn out?
I have ordered the same card before i read about the to different pcb's and i too plan to watercool the card.

Hi guy,
I ended up not trying. I got me an Asus card with a specific EK water block for that card.
Didn't feel like experimenting :-)
