Its time for an upgrade...but what to buy?

Thread Starter
Got my tax return and want to upgrade from my 5870....question is what to get

Here's primarily what I'm looking at

580 Superclocked
590

6990
7970

What do you all think or what avenues should I take? I'd be for crossfire or sli if my motherboard ran both slots at 16x-16x instead it's 16x-4x

Id go 7970. You can crossfire it later and it's a beast.

Edit: Saw your comment about not being able to crossfire. Wait a month or 2 and see what the 7990 has to offer. That will be the next gen 6990.

I would personally wait a couple weeks until Nvidia is done announcing theirs. The 7950 and 7970 are great, but they are expensive with zero competition right now. Hopefully Nvidias will be better and/or competetive.

The 7970 will prob only drop 20-30 bucks.. and even so, the 7990can will have more common issues like all other dual gpu cards
